This is a sad day for rabid fans of TV theme songs. At noon, Clear Channel will pull the plug on the short-term teaser format that was airing on its new Central Ohio radio station.
The permanent format, Radio 106.7, will be a pop-rock-alternative hybrid that borrows a little from such competitors as Mix 97.1 and CD101â€â€with a style that borrows nothing at all from fellow Clear Channel station WNCI 97.9.

Here's some more info about it:
The Dispatch wrote TV theme songs end as station starts to rock
Friday, December 14, 2007
BY TIM FERAN
The newest radio station in central Ohio turned off Andy Griffith and turned on Pearl Jam as it settled yesterday into its new format.
The station, WMRN (106.7 FM), had played TV theme songs since joining the airwaves Nov. 29 in search of a permanent concept.
At noon yesterday, modern rock took over.
"Radio 106.7 will play new and established rock artists in the longest music sweeps available in Columbus radio today," said John Crenshaw, operations manager for Clear Channel, which owns the station.

Not that I had ANY expectations of a commercial-free all TV theme songs station sticking around for any length of time, I'm very disappointed in the format change - modern/alt rock, like CD101 and 97.1. Whoop-de-doo...
Odd that neither article mentions it... for those interested in hearing what the hype is no longer about, they do stream from their webpage, radio1067.com.
Meanwhile, back to listening to the iPod or talk radio for me...

I was sad when the format ended. It was pretty weird. They played some movie soundtracks too which was pretty cool and unique. Did anyone else catch the music from A Clockwork Orange? I'm a fan of this kind of music.
The crazy format they had going was enough to get me to actually listen to the radio again. There was a great buzz around the office, everyone was listening to it.
Now they are just one of many. Goodbye 106.7, its time to plug the ipod back in.

I checked it out on my drive to and from work (which is a short trip, so I only heard one song):
12:00 PM -- Foo Fighters
3:00 PM -- Foo Fighters
Interesting...
