COLUMBUS -- Move over Buckeyes, there's a new team in town. Many of the players we already know -- Travis Hafner, Rafael Perez, Josh Barfield and more.
It's the location that's different: downtown Columbus, where Indians baseball is thriving inside Huntington Park, the intimate home of Cleveland's new Class AAA affiliate, the Columbus Clippers.
The park, which debuted in April, has become an instant success, a magnet for both sports fans and the post-work party crowd, a place that connects Columbus with Cleveland in way that doesn't involve the scarlet and gray.
Tucked into a corner at Nationwide Boulevard and Neil Avenue, the ballpark is the latest addition to the city's emerging entertainment area, the Arena District, a 75-acre mixed-use space with 500 condos and apartments and more than a dozen restaurants and bars.
