Dances that interject, interrupt, and interpose," is how dance maker Jeff Fouch of Heroic Urges Moving Arts describes his show Living Rooms premiering at Gallery Hop in The Green Room at the Garden Theater on April 7th. Fouch, with collaborator Christeen Stridsberg, crafts a darkly comedic and abstract landscape to kickoff Short North Stage's dance artist series. With a traditional art exhibition being old hat, Short North Stage is spinning Gallery Hop on its head and opening its doors as a performance art gallery as an institution for Gallery Hop.
Meeting at Otterbein University, Fouch and Stridsberg began their journey through dance by sharing life experiences. Even while away at grad school, Fouch receiving his MFA in dance from the Ohio State University and Stridsberg at the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, they continued their work together through developing literature that embodied and complimented what they hope to achieve through performance. Already using cabaret to give audiences an intimate inside look at the process of creating performance art, Short North Stage is excited to offer a a platform for local talent to share their unique points of view.
Audiences can tumble through shifty environments and awkward situations with Heroic Urges Moving Arts (HUMA) at the Garden Theater in their new performance space, The Green Room, Saturday April 7th at 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm. Admission is $5 at the door. For more information call (614) 725-4042. 1187 N. High St.
