I stopped by the Hilliard/Mill Run location of Cook Shack BBQ tonight for a quick low carb dinner, and this location is now closed on Sundays and Mondays in an attempt to save on labor costs and overhead. Catering is still available if you have an event either of those days. I hope this isn’t the beginning of “the end†- this restaurant has never established an evening following, and is not really located in the best spot along a busy connector road. Does anyone know how the food crowds and quality have been at the Downtown location?

I've only been once. Food was alright. A good cheap lunch option.
I know I'm in the minority, but I wished they had later or weekend hours. BBQ is more of a dinner item for me, as I usually eat lighter lunches, and without the ability to grab some later in the day, it rarely crosses my mind as a good food option.
Hope they're doing well though. I always like to support anyone willing to take a chance on opening downtown.

I brought this up myself in the original thread. The food is good, but I don't see enough of a lunch crowd to warrant being open for only three hours for lunch. They've got the extra task of drawing foot traffic off of High and Gay, which are much more established than Long.

I went once when the place first opened. Found the food to be average, at best. I doubt I'm going back.

Per This Week News, the Hilliard/Mill Run location has closed as of October 30. They have moved to East Broad Street at North James Road - where Sammy's NY Bagels used to be. Don't bother with their website - it hasn't been updated since the downtown location opened this past Spring - I hope they find their niche with the East Side.....
