How do you make a living?

During the day I am Lead SMT Technician for a division of Battelle called PFS or Production and Feild Support. We manufacture products for the Department of Defense and some comercial outfits like NOAA. Anything more specific and I will have to kill you!:) lol

At night I am a graphic designer, artist, event planner, clothing designer, muralist, and hopefully business owner like many of those that responded before me.

Both settings offer completely different sets of challenges and required skill to manage and I truly love it in the end.

For my bills, I schedule electricity.

For my life, I create, sew, craft, plot, scheme, laugh and generally try to stuff as much into each day as possible - all while also dreaming of my own business (someday... down the road...).

Volunteer advocate and board member with Yay Bikes!, active volunteer with Pedal Instead.

Looking to start my own business in the next few years.

this was originally a hobby,but has since become a business for me.

i rehabilitate aluminum high performance parts from the 50's and 60's.

i also inspect classic cars and locate them for potential buyers.
i actually just found a one owner 1970 Cutlass right behind Sawmill Athletic Club,that car has now found a new home in New Jersey.

this is a set of Oldsmobile valve covers and stacks i recently resurrected
they were made by Moon,were installed on a Can Am race car from the 60's,only 4 or 5 were ever made.
this is extremely expensive stuff.

IT Database Consultant for Ingenix Data Analytics (part of United Healthcare).

Volunteer work:
Friends of Goodale Park Board, Short North Foundation Board, Victorian Village Home Tour.

I handle FGP's web presence and social media, and am currently gathering requirements for a website redesign of the Friends of Goodale Park. The purpose of the redesign will be to hopefully get more folks active in maintaining the content.

I'm starting work on a contact/membership management system for Simply Living (will be testing out CiviCRM next month).

I promised to be a feature writer for CU on gardening, but have fallen woefully behind on that (sorry). Hope to submit some articles, soon, since there are a lot of gardeners on this board, and I'd love to see a more active dialog and maybe even garden related activities or something.

I'm exploring ideas for going into business for myself (outside of technology). And yep, Manatee, I think the civic minded and/or entrepreneur's posting is interesting. Perhaps it's related to a personality trait that also compels folks to post here?

I'm a secretary for a research dept at OSU; I love that I can support work I think is totally wonderful. When the cats do not require my attention, I look at the magnolia tree in the front yard.
