Maybe this belongs in Q&A, or another area. I'm just taking a stab and putting it in chit chat...
OK. So my husband has a collection of over 1000 12 inch (and a few 10 inch) vinyl records from mostly the 1970's and early 80's. He has the classic rock albums that everyone has, but his fav's were punk and country (hence our love of the music at Surly Girl). I think he may have nearly every album from the Stooges, the Kinks, the Velvets (which are probably his fav group), as well as country performers I've never even heard of (like he has a bunch of Towne Van Zandt).
We've already had an incident with the cats deciding that the albums near the floor looked like a scratching pad, with some damage resulting on the outer edge of some albums. So, I want to identify the albums of the most value, and either frame them as decoration in one of our spare bedrooms, or even, dare I say, maybe sell them to a good home. Carl is not entirely opposed to the selling idea anymore (it was unthinkable until we were talking last night - but if they went to a good home he might consider it). I have in the past googled individual titles, and looked at what they are selling for online, but this is time consuming, and maybe not very accurate.
Does anyone know people who are knowledgable on vinyl records, who might give us some insight?
In the meantime, I'm just going through them looking for my favorite cover art to display in frames on the wall :)
