I would guess you'd have to be a student? Its a campus job/position technically and those tend to be for students only. My guess if its a volunteer position, its for work/study students needing the position (jobs at the RPAC and other athletic facilities are the same).
well I just found this:

So I'd say its about as possible as becoming an OSU football player?
you could grab Tressel's email off of those WTVN leaks and just shoot him an email. But, he might think you're a crazy fan and move to Tennessee :)

NO. Its a very covered position and usually only older men get to be red coats. There is a difference between Red Coats and Ushers at the stadium as well.
I was under the impression it's pretty difficult.

I wasn't aware that there was a difference... what is it?
I had figured that there must be a 30 year waiting list given the age of most of them. LOL I think that I've only seen one young person (around 30 or so) that I can remember.
I volunteered for about 5 years when I was young. The best way to get in the stadium is to find out who the vendors are find a cause you like and get involved with that organization. I worked for the special Olympics during my time there it was fantastic and it was all you could eat hot dogs on steamed buns.
