So I've added a few pounds in the past 3 months, which is due to my love for baked goods and my unwillingness to run in the cold. What cheap options exist for getting exercise in the winter? I live in the Linworth/Worthington area.

Cheap options?
Eat less. Seriously. Check the "calories burned" during various activities:
http://www.nutristrategy.com/caloriesburned.htm
And compare them to your favorite snack food.

That's a cool site. Who would have guessed "Mild stretching" would burn so many calories? I put "cheap" because I'm not into a $50/mo gym membership. Once the weather clears a bit, I'll go back to biking on the Olentangy trail.

Eat less.
+1
Check out the Worthington Rec Center. Its pretty cheap if you're a resident and join for a year. But, you can join month to month for $50 if you aren't a resident. No commitment.

I set up a free account on Daily Burn at the beginning of October and have dropped 10-12 lbs as of today (goal is 17 lbs):
You enter your information (height, weight, age, lifestyle type) and it sets goals for how many calories, fat, protein, carbs you should be eating. Then you enter in the types of food you eat and it counts calories and everything else as you go. I'm very data-driven when it comes to this type of stuff, so being able to see little charts and graphs and crunch numbers really helps me stay focused.
There's also a free iPhone app that will let you enter foods, your weight and other info on the fly.
You can also enter in different types of workouts, how long you work out, how many reps you do and it will calculate calories burned and add that into the mix. It's a very robust application but the interface is really well designed and easy to navigate.
There is a "PRO" version as well that costs a few bucks, but meh... the free account works for me.
And I should add that I'm not the type to work out, and never want to join a gym. I run from time to time, and don't want to give up eating delicious foods. So this has been a great way to make few sacrifices just by cutting a few portions down here and there. It really doesn't take a whole lot of effort. Just have to find what works and stick with it.

I workout to old videos (the Firm, Yoga for Athletes, and a variety of others). I have my front room setup as a workout room, with my mats and weights. I would probably watch workout videos available on TV for the variety, but I don't have the lines run into that room. I guess these were an initial investment, but none were terribly pricy items, and they've worked well for me.
Similar to Walker, I've been entering information into a website that was free to join. I do it mostly to get a good handle on the calories in what I plan for meals:
http://www.everydayhealth.com/
It doesn't look as cool as the one Walker posted, but I haven't compared features, yet. I like the articles they've been sending in email.
I've lost over 11 pounds since the first of the year. My goal is to lose 50, and get back to the weight I was before I changed jobs. I'm a stress eater. I don't so much wear my heart on my sleeve as my belly. 3 years ago, I started working a job that turned out to be not a great fit -- and I put on 50 pounds (added to the job, we did a kitchen remodel a year ago, and so were eating every meal out for 6 months, too). I'm going back to my old boss and team as of next Monday, and I think having that weight lifted will help me drop the literal weight, too :) We've also stopped eating out for a while. I plan to be back into a size 6 by the end of June. It's about 2 pounds a week to get there. We have a wedding to go to then, so that helps me stay motivated, too.

My membership to Snap Fitness works out to about $20 a month. There's an initiation fee, but I'm pretty cheap, so the fact that I paid a lot up front gets me motivated to use the membership. I'm not really trying to lose weight - maybe 5 pounds - but just get into better shape.
Those calorie/nutrition counter programs are great, but kinda tedious. A few years ago, I tracked religiously for a month but haven't found the need to continue - you get a good sense of what the right volume of food is.
Since the New Year, we've done a really good job of eating way less processed foods - almost everything we buy is raw/whole/whole grain. We reduced meat to twice a week, and increased fish/seafood to twice a week, with three vegetarian dinners. I feel so much better, and have absolutely lost any real desire to eat meat.

Spark People app or the Nike IFit app. Both free - both serious.

If you can't run, then walk. Park somewhere like Antrim or the bike path at Wilson Bridge, and go stomp snow.

Indeed. I'd rather walk an hour in the cold than jog for half an hour...when it's above 15...and there's not an ice storm...so I guess there are a few stipulations...

It probably died in the 80's with Tiffany's carreer but I guess there is always room for a mall walkers revival.

Set a goal that's not related to losing weight, such as running Race for the Cure, then train to that goal. I'm a runner and generally register for 1/2 marathons in Columbus as early as possible, that gives me motivation and the registration cost gives me a stake in it. I got the idea from a speech where the guy said to schedule your next vacation right after you finish the last one so you have something to look forward to.
If you choose to run, train up to a couple miles on the treadmill when it's cold, but as soon as 40 degrees is here, head outside. 9-10 miles outside is much easier than 3-4 inside, plus it's a lot harder to quit mid-route when your still have to get home.
Build your route at mapmyrun.com - use the Beta site (default), it's much better.

Good ideas. http://dailyburn.com looks pretty cool. I live close to Antrim and love running and biking when it's warmer. It's hard to get motivated in the cold though. The mall walkers are an intense bunch.
