Shapiro said there are a number of things vegans and omnivores ought to be able to agree on when it comes to factory farming. He talked about how this issue connects with faith-based communities , with the occupy movement, and with the environmental movement .
Shapiro critiqued the idea of factory farming as a good way to make 'low cost' meat, eggs, and dairy available to consumers. He also discussed why animal rights and animal welfare can be a divisive issue
