Nice, you guys are on the ball!
I just went last year for the first time. Tons of fun. A lot like comfest just but with a more laid back vibe. Can't wait for this year.
I meant to go last year but can't remember why I couln't make it.
What's the attendance usually like?
maybe... 10% of Comfest?
It's much smaller and more laid back like someone said, it's a good time.
It's almost like a Com Fest followup festival. A nice time - good music, more art cars, etc. Here was my experience via my festival blog...
I'm looking forward to that weekend...again...and again...and again...
I do have to say that CJ Chenier was pretty awesome last year rocking and zydeco-ing the stage.
Hot Times is fast approaching! Volunteers are needed. You can sign up here: http://hottimesfestival.com/volunteer
Bump! Only a week away! ;)

The annual Hot Times Festival will be held September 9-11 at Main and Parsons in the Health Department lawn. This free community arts and music festival will feature two stages, two drum circles, poetry slam, visual art projects, art cars, street fair, and kid’s activities.
Each year, the festival is kicked off on Saturday morning with the Columbus Children’s Parade. The Parade begins at Linwood (Wilson) and Bryden Rd at Kwanza Park at 11:00am and marches along Bryden Rd to end at the festival grounds. The headlining act this year is “The Mississippi Bluesman,” Grady Champion, on Sunday evening at 6:45pm.
More information, event schedule, and volunteer opportunities can be found at hottimesfestival.com
This is a great festival like the COMFEST in the SN was like when the festival started many years ago - cool, low key, unassuming and fun
Had an amazing time over at Hot Times today. The crowd was, as always, about a 100 times more graceful and community minded than the Comfest crowd. I can't tell you how much I love the vibe at this fest compared to every single other one the city. Its really representative of my neighborhood, and has much more of a family and friends, laid back air about it.
At the same time, the main stage performers absolutely tore it up this year, and my highlight was a maybe 5yr old little girl wailing on a mic with Descendre.
The smaller stage, however, was a travesty of programming today. Yesterday, the day wound down with some great performers on the "Woodlands Tavern Stage" that I missed (Happy Chichester, for one), but today was damn near embarrassing. I mean BAD... really bad.
What's the deal with Woodlands running a stage for Hot Times, anyway?
If any bar should be approached for it, shouldn't it be Carabar?
At least you'd get booking that'd rival the main stage, but be completely different...
Ah well, it doesn't matter anyway... wasn't like I was all that motivated to walk away from the main stage's music, blueberry lemonade vodka, and BBQ tents if I didn't have to...
I am guessing Woodland's ponied up some donation $ for the naming rights to the stage.
