Hot Sauce!!!!

I was going to add to the "addicted" topic with "hot sauce". At my house, I put it on everything. I've even been known to bring my own with me when we dine out. Resteraunts typically just don't get it. To them, Frank's or Tobasco is hot. Rooster's Super Killer doesn't even cut it anymore.

Does anyone else out there share my addiction to hot sauce and/or hot foods? I'd love to hear recomendations to new sauces and dishes you've had in Columbus.

Right now this is currently my hands down favorite. Tha name is cheesy, but the flavor is incredible.

I love "hot" foods. try the Tortas Ahogada $5.95 at Cucos

Carnitas, guacamole and pico de gallo covered in hot sauce.

as in the whole sandwich is dunked in hot sauce like a french dip would be dunked in beef juice.

Try the hot sauce from Skillet; it is super hot and has great flavor. I'm assuming it's habenero-based, judging from the heat, but I could be way off. I know they started selling it out of their mobile cart a while back; I'm sure you can get it in their restaurant as well.

I've got some scotch bonnet, and some chili peppers growing in my back yard. I was wondering what to do with them. This looks like a winner.

can you give me your method?

Rough-chop the peppers and onions, etc., simmer with vinegar and salt to soften.

Process to a puree.

Push through a sieve with the back of the ladle to separate seeds and pulp. Texture will vary with mesh size. The pulp/seeds can have other uses.

The result is a sauce that can go through a squirt-top bottle.

Have you tried the Vietnamese restaurant at the corner of Front and Long, Saigon Palace? I suspect they could hook you up with a dish that satisifies. I haven't been there in a while, but the one guy that used to cook there could definitely lay on the heat. I like the Chicken Lemongrass.

I just checked out their menu... it looks like they have dumbed it down a bit. Some of the more unusual dishes they used to have are gone. But I still suspect they could do a hot version of Chicken Lemongrass that will knock your socks off.

That's a good line of sauces, and they show how some sauces are colored green or red, while otheres are an unadulterated brown.

Green peppers + red peppers = brown sauce.

Whats the scoville rating on that? Quick google indicates it tops out at 1,900 which is on the weak side... good habaneros can hit 350,000.

@Snarf, yes!! All of them, delicious!

I've been on a Tapatio kick lately and it's great because it's so damn cheap!! I buy some new hot sauce variation every week. Hence the over abundance in my cabinets, but I've got a hot sauce for every need.

I can't remember what they brought me at Banana Bean last Sunday for my 'taters (it might have just been Tobasco or Frank's), but I was kinda bummed they didn't have something a little more interesting, house made even.

Oh and this stuff is just stupid and ridiculous hot. I love heat, but not novelty heat. SO if you want to burn your face off, enjoy.
