Hey guys-
My fiancee and I are trying to find the perfect honeymoon spot to hit during the first week of March. We're looking for somewhere warm and exotic (a beach is a must). We'd really like to do the Maldives, but it's a little pricier than we're comfortable with. Any suggestions?

We went to New Zealand for our honeymoon; really nice because it's small enough you'll get your beaches and also have mountains not too far away. You also don't have the resort feel you have on some of the other tropical island destinations. The dollar is about 1.40 NZ dollars, so the exchange rate is pretty nice. And they have great food and world-class wineries there.

Tahiti, St. Barts, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos and Montecito are a few places that come to mind.

Check out Mauritius it's near Maldives but has slightly better pricing. extraordinary mix of French and Hindu culture- fabulous colors and great beaches.
Also Consider Chaing Mai, Thailand... it's not a beach, but there are the most wonderful resort and cultural experience to be had at spendable prices.

We went to Couples Tower Isle and are heading back soon to Couples San Souci. We did a lot of research on the Caribbean and after going through their message board for several weeks, we felt like part of the family.

We could not have been happier with our stay, it is one of the original "Eco Lodges" started in the 70s and the area around it is now a national park, so no other hotels/lodges have been able to build there. We did the 3 meals a day honeymoon suite package for 6 days, if we had to do it again we would have done the 4 day and went to Northern Costa Rica for a bit. My trip advisor review is here:
