I looked at your site and menu, looks nice. Your location is convenient to me and I hope to bring a friend soon. Good luck in your endeavor.

Just to follow-up with some unaffiliated and unsolicited feedback: quite a few folks from my workplace have visited 101 Beer Kitchen and all of them have come back with rave reviews. The food is apparently really, really good! I expect it's only a matter of time before I check it out too.
Welcome to the Northwest side 101 Beer Kitchen. We're glad to have you!
Hit up 101 for dinner tonight. Sat at the bar to take advantage of the half off drafts at happy hour. They have a good selection of draft beers and the bartender (Shawn) was both knowledgable about the beer and food as well as being pretty engaging overall.
Food selection is small but wide ranging, this worked well for me, but my wife is a picky eater, so she went with the burger. The pork sandwich I had was good, maybe cooked a bit dry, but still really good, the burger got an enthusiastic approval too. We both got fries with our sandwiches and in a word, they are unbelievably good, maybe the best I can remember. Definately a new addition to the dining out rotation.
Should this get a thread of its own? (Is this new place even in a former Hoggy's restaurant? Even if so, I'd still start a new thread and just note for the oldtimers that it's where such-and-such Hoggy's was.)

The former Hoggy's Grandview building appears to be in the midst of a major renovation. Are there any updates on the new tenant?
winking lizard bar
Drove by there this evening, sign says Winking Lizard (5xNW) is opening Feb 18th.
Hoggy's catering lives on at Bethel Road location of sister operation

Went to the opening of the Winking Lizard in Grandview. Good beer selection but pretty similar to Bethel. People will probably like the large patio in the spring. One thing of note is that we already saw some residents on 6th ave arguing with Winking Lizard customers over the parking overflow. Cars filled in a lot of the surrounding area similar to Byrnes and Woodlands. Unfortunately, that is how it works when you live in a choice area.
The parking situation spilled into the neighborhood immediately. Cars are stacked at intersections, leading to blind turns, people squeezing into spots campus style (just saw my neighbors bmw take a good bump and grind). It's 9 p.m. and the traffic in what used to be a quiet alley hasn't slowed yet.
I'm glad the new bar are is having a busy start and hope they will be good neighbors when it comes to parking. Maybe they can lease some neighboring lots to ease the congestion. I'm hopeful that tonight is not a preview of what's to come.
It would be neighborly of them to rent out a few of the nearby lots which are not utilized in the evening. Since this is opening night on a holiday it might lessen over time. I think it will take a couple of weeks to get a true feel for it.

Sounds about right, my office just moved into Grandview this year, and wow I was shocked at the parking problem, and this is from a guy who has lived in and spent a lot of time in hoods that traditionally get flack for lack of parking. This area is the clear winner for worst parking, it feels easier to park downtown.
When I go to lunch I often I have give up on my first choice because there are no spots in the tiny lots they have, and no street parking nearby.

Yeah Red Door Tavern has an auxiliary lot a block down behind the Sherwin Williams store. It helps a LOT on Fridays and Saturdays.
Parking isn't that bad in Grandview. Not great, but there are always side streets to park on. I've lived here for 4 years without any real problems. Can't always get the spot out front, yo.

Daytime parking isn't that hard in Grandview as most of the residents are at work so side street parking is easy peasy.
Walked by lizard last night about 9p. Everyone standing. flat screens on full bright setting, smokers outside throwing butts into grass.
total sports bar. Really original idea. American ballsports on flat screens. 9 dollar burgers. Fairly expensive beer prices.
Bar Cars parked in chiropractor business next door. Overflow on nearby streets.
I wonder how many Monday's will it take the chiropractor to have to clean up broken glass, trash and cigbutts before they run a cable across the entrance to his lot?
Many of the Apts on 6th (one street over), have no other place to park other than in front of their apts. If I lived there I would be raging at people as well.
Cbus is quite full of sports bars and "chicken wings". BW3, hooters, roosters, quaker steak/lube, bj's brewhouse and 20 others.
The corner looks better than it did, hopefully when the weather cracks they'll add some nice landscaping and fix up the parking lot some.
As a new business, being a liaison to your neighborhood and the community around your business is just as important as the products you sell. If the business doesn't care about the surrounding neighborhood and people that live nearby, what does this say about their business? and the people that own that business?
It was opening night, let's see how things are when it settles down.
Sorry you don't like sports.

That isn't entirely true. the majority of the apartments along 6th have garages behind them. It is true though, that in this day and age everyone has their own car so it is likely that many of the one bedrooms have two cars associated with them. I lived in a similar situation in the SN and would double park in the garage.
