Grammy-Award winning hip-hop artist and the Global Ambassador to Haiti, Pras Michel (Fugees), is to host a nationwide college tour to screen his documentary SWEET MICKY FOR PREZIDAN that depicts the 2011 Haitian elections.
SWEET MICKY FOR PREZIDAN is a political documentary produced and narrated by Pras Michel and Directed by Ben Patterson. Filmed in Haiti, this controversial film offers an intimate perspective of the surrounding hoopla of the 2011 Haitian presidential election that followed the country's devastating 7.0 earthquake that claimed the lives of over 300,000 people.
SWEET MICKY FOR PREZIDAN features appearances by and interviews with Sean Penn, Ben Stiller, Danny Glover, Nigel Barker and includes exclusive "behind the scenes" footage of the new President of Haiti, Michel Martelly "Sweet Micky"
Part of the narrative covers the tension that arose between Pras, who supported Michel Martelly for the presidency, and his childhood friend and former Fugees band mate Wyclef Jean, who also ran for the post.
The goal of the screening is two fold: to remember the catastrophe that rocked the tiny island nation and inspire youth and world leaders help turn tragedy into an opportunity for positive growth. Pras uses his significant influence in business development opportunities in Haiti to create jobs and to elevate sustainable commerce (revenue) in the United States, Haiti and other countries abroad.
The format of the screenings are: a reception, a meet and greet, Q & A, and photo ops with Pras Michel and possibly other relevant guest (celebrities, University professors, “Sustainism” experts, and/or prominent local business owners).
