no problem....
Yikes. Now that I look at the admin screen for this signup sheet thing, it says that there are only four slots left! It does appear to have a waiting list function, for what that's worth.
I'm also noticing something a little disturbing -- either a couple of people are leaving spouses at home, or some of you are putting one name in one slot and planning to bring multiple people. If that's the case, we'll have more than 20 -- Gourmand, not sure how (or whether?) the restaurant can handle that? This is... not too many, now that I look again, but be sure that you've put one person per slot.
Edit -- it occurred to me after I wrote the above that I could at least try to fix this problem. There are three people whom I strongly suspect are actually bringing family, so I filled in an extra slot for each and emailed them privately. When I find out whether or not they intended to come solo, I'll free up the slots, or not, as their responses warrant. So if the list is full, get on the waiting list, making sure to use your real email address (otherwise it might be hard to reach you!!), and we should know in a couple of days what the final list looks like.
Thanks, and sorry for the hassle. I just found this signup-list site, tried it out, and mailed the link to the Gourmand; I've never used it before. Now that I see it in action, I think I'll recommend to the authors that they include a "How many slots do you want to reserve?" space....
That filled up quick! I must remember to obsessively hit the refresh button on the CU forums before going to bed in the future.
I mean more than I already do.
I was a little confused on how the thing worked. I entered my info in and it said "be in touch with you soon" which I thought maybe meant I'd get some sort of confirmation email? I didn't see any option to select how many people were attending.

+1
Maybe we should try meetup.com? The one thing I like about meetup is that it seems like a lot of people who are new to the city check it out. The Columbus Dining group has lots of members who are looking to find some new friends because they just moved here.
Or evite.com

Yeah, I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was up until it was nearly full... otherwise I'd have posted some sort of instructions. It's really meant to be trivially simple -- just like a signup sheet that you pass around a room, where everyone fills in name, phone number, etc., and there are a fixed number of slots, the only difference being that it's on the internet. It's so bare-bones that it's kind of deceptive because you expect there to be more features.
I didn't set up a separate list for the 22nd because I didn't know whether the Gourmand was going to use this list. So this list is only for the 25th. I have, accordingly, removed a couple of people who have told me that they can only make the 22nd. I will put them first on the list when I create a new one for the 22nd. If you signed up for the 25th but intend to come on the 22nd, please PM me to that effect. Thanks.
As of this moment, the new vacancies on the list created enough openings to allow everyone on the waiting list to be added to the list. So we're at exactly 20. Still worth getting on the waiting list, as there may be more vacancies.
As far as a new one for the 22nd is concerned, I need to know how many people they can accommodate. Did anyone find this out already? I'll create a new list as soon as we know this for sure.

I'm all for a better solution if one exists. The unique feature of this situation is a maximum of 20, which I'm pretty sure evites won't handle -- not sure about meetup. I don't keep up on these sorts of sites that much. I tried out one that was abysmal -- forget the name -- and then this one, which worked about as well as a passed sign-up sheet would, which was all I had in mind. The waiting list feature is actually kind of a nice bonus. It's just very lacking in user interface, to say the least.
i am in for the 22nd, if you can add me to that list.

Aargh
OK, I was hoping for word on max attendees before now, but I've set up a new list at http://hawarussiajune22.sign-up-sheet.com/ for the 22nd. I have added Lisa, Husband, and Laura A. to the list, and I've set the max to 20. If you sign up, please sign up one time for each person attending. Thanks.
thanks, sorry to be a pain.

No, not you -- the decentralized nature of the situation, plus the server problems, plus the fact that I wasn't paying attention when the list went up, made this sort of chaos nearly inevitable. Just trying to manage it as best I can.
I'd really like to come on the 25th but know that I may have a drastically busy week at work and therefore cannot commit for sure at this point. It'd be something I'd have to totally play by ear that week. Are we making resos for a definite number (and need people to commit with certainty now) or is there a a bit of wiggle room?
Damn, I snooze I lose. Paul and I really want to go, LOL. I can't make the one on the 22nd because the foodie meetup group is having brunch right around the corner at Smackies. I put us on the waiting list for the 25th, and I'm hoping a couple of spaces will free up by then...

I'll defer to the Gourmand on this -- my understanding was that the restaurant probably couldn't handle a group of more than 20, so I set up a signup list of that size. Setting up and managing the list is my bailiwick. Questions about flexibility, etc., I can't answer.

You're the first two on the waiting list, fyi.

Paul and I went in tonight on a scouting mission (I'll post the review and the scanned in menus in a few minutes), and when I talked to them about it, they said they have no limit on group sizes (even groups of up to 100), as long as they know in advance how many to expect.
The place is huge. Just one small section (4 banquet tables of 8 seats each over on the other side of the dance floor) can accommodate 32. It was dead empty when we went tonight (we were the only ones in there), so I don't forsee a large group being a problem, especially this early in the game.
But since Jim is the one organizing this, it'll be up to him on whether he wants to set the cap at 20 or if he's willing to let a couple extra of us slide in under the wire. ;)
CMH Gourmand wrote I cased out the place - it has different dining areas but could sit a group of 20 or so. However, I think that many might overwhelm them a bit.

Are you sure you guys went to the same place?
For anyone who's interested, I've posted my review of the place and links to the menus in this CU thread.
If they can really handle 100 people I propose opening this up to Facebook. ;)
