HAVE NICE THINGS. DO BAD THINGS.
An exhibition featuring the work of artist Matt Reese
“That moment when you’ve found yourself swept away in the alluring yet terrifying conduit of life, dizzied by the violent current and all its unexpected twists and turns. And you don't regret any of it.”
- excerpt from artist statement
Join me and the incredibly talented Waldo’s On High crew during gallery hop this Saturday, January 7th 2012 for the opening reception of HAVE NICE THINGS. DO BAD THINGS. The exhibition, my first as an artist and photographer, features select pieces of my best work to date in the fields of Fine Art, Fashion, and Marketing -- many of which were done in close collaboration with the salon itself. The collection includes imagery depicting bad things, nice things, and a couple of other things that fall somewhere in between.
And, let’s be serious, y’all know I’m not one to have friends over and just passively look at art on the wall. This is going to be a party. AN ART PARTY. Pabst Blue Ribbon, Brother’s Drake Meadery, formula AM (you’ll need this in the morning), and Midwest Photo Exchange were all kind (see also: really awesome) enough to sponsor the opening reception. So just show up, check out my art and enjoy yourself. We’ve got you covered on everything.
Putting some extra hop in the gallery:
6:00 – 7:00 - DJ Charles Erickson of The Clampdown
7:10 – 9:00 - newcomer DJ GiFY and all his hunky goodness
9:00 - 9:10 - Acknowledgments and Surprise Giveaway
9:10 – 11:00 – and DJ Kingpin of Juicy fame will be closing us out
Behind the Bar:
Lindsey Klun. After months of retirement Boy Lindsey will be returning to flex his bartending muscles once again. Tip him well, he owes me gym money.
Also emerging from the ghosts of Skully's past, we've got Jeneca to help!
Acknowledgments and Surprise Giveaway:
Stick around the gallery because at 9:00 PM we’ll be raising a thank you toast and giving away a prize package to one of our very appreciated guests. Be sure to enter your name for the drawing.
Paparazzi:
And, of course, an event in Columbus would not be complete without that sensational man of the night Ed Luna there to document the whole thing.
So yeah, I expect all the usual suspects to be there. Including hipster and yuppie friends alike. This night is more about you than me. I am beyond thankful for receiving so much support and encouragement from all of the amazing people who’ve entered my life. You've made it possible for me to do what I love. Columbus, you’re the cutest. Let’s keep riding this tidal wave of community strength wherever it may take us.
