We'd like to check out a haunted attraction or 2 before Halloween, anybody have any recommendations? We did the Mansfield prison a few years ago and thought it was great and also did the Haunted Hoochie, which was horrible. We thought about doing the Haunted Experience thing that is in Ostrander but haven't heard anything good or bad about it. Thanks!

I am planning on going to the House of Nightmares on the 30th.
They have a coupon on their website for certain nights.
I went to it when it was in Mt. Vernon and it was great.

Got a whole thread about this over here. 8)
Oh, and welcome to the site! :D

A friend of ours went to the same one when it was in Mt Vernon and said it was great too. Considering the new location is in the Brewery District, it's definately the easiest one to get to.

Yeah, if you've seen Silence of the Lambs it's pretty much like that.

I'm still curious about the Haunted Experience out in the middle of no where. Sounds like a great concept, but not sure if I'm prepared to wait for up to 3 hours to walk through it.

Hi,
I am one of the designers of The Experience for the last 2 years and would be happy to answer any questions you might have. For one we were able to move things a long faster last week so the wait wasn't 3 hours more like 2. If it rains that causes a lot of problems for us because of our equipment, and can slow down the line. The Experience is not like any other "haunted forest". We are not going to jump out at you with blood and guts and chainsaws. This is a mind experience of fear using a story to keep you on the right track.
let me know what your other questions are.
ps. I read this board everyday from work and am just now getting around to posting. I am a big electronic music fan (used to DJ around town in the late 90s) and this is the best place to find out what events are coming up! Big up to this site. :)

Cool thanks for posting. I did have a question, according to your website you said last weekend due to the rain, the fire path was shut down. How much of the experience does that affect? Considering it is suppose to rain on Friday, I'm guessing it may be shut down then too...?
I appreciate the information!

This year we tried a new theme of having two different paths through the woods for our guests to choose from. One is named water, one is named fire and both tell different parts of a story. We have had a lot of issues with the fire path due to both weather, and frankly not having enough volunteers to help run it. This weekend we are going to try to run both paths but we really wont know until right up until opening I would guess.
To be honest and get some insider info, the Water path is the better of the two and that one will be open for sure. So if they are both open when you go, take the water one, trust me.

**UPDATE FROM The ExperiencE**
Happy Halloween! We are almost to my favorite holiday of the year! With that - there are a few more things to mention about the remaining dates of The Experience.
Lots and lots of rain is expected on Friday and Saturday - so check the site or call the box office at (614) 306-0447 before you make the trip.
Beware of the parking lot - when it rains it becomes a muddy mess...
Also - I am hearing that even though they have stated that the fire path will not be open on Friday or Saturday - that it may be open on Sunday - Tuesday. But with all the rain coming I wouldn't get your hopes up about it - they will get it worked out next year I'm sure. Speaking of next year - check the site a couple days after Halloween - they have picked their tagline!
If The Experience is cancelled this weekend - you should go check out Center Stage Players' The Rocky Horror Show in the Short North - Columbus. CSP is the theatre troupe that acts in the attraction - so here's your chance to catch them on stage.
P.S. - the lines are shorter on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
