Working on comics and other drawing stuff.
It's really weird to me to have Columbus day off. It's never happened to me before (even when I was living in New England, where it seems to be a slightly bigger deal), and I feel like I'm cheating. Therefore, my plan is to try to be productive otherwise.
So far, I'm failing at that plan ;-)

Mrs. 0Angle is a state employee and has the day off. She schlepped the kids to school (a first this year!) and is now shopping. Older boy has no school on Friday. Why doesn’t Columbus schools close on a (Holi)day when some people already have a day off, instead of the following Friday?

OSU does not get the day off, we use it for the day after thanksgiving or something like that.

I always looked forward to this week because we had the Fun Fair at Douglas that Friday (the teachers, staff, and parents took advantage of the empty school to set stuff up) . The whole kindergarden area (two connected classrooms) was converted into a funhouse (formerly a haunted house, but that changed after some complaints, so I only saw that for one year). I would come home with so many plastic dinosaurs.

Talcott--
Funny, I never noticed the Fun Fair date! My dad actually has a permanently shattered bone in his big toe after manning the haunted house one year (hoodlum middle-schoolers ran through the haunted house and knocked a heavy canister of air on his foot). It's been more than 20 years, but now I'm having elementary school flashbacks. :)
And I'm among those without the day off today. Only a little bit bitter.

My grandmother and uncle were part of the original staff after the redesign, although they were both gone from there well before '86.
Oh-- to be on topic? Just another work day :/
