I love the Gyro Truck at the corner of Leonard & Taylor. We stop there at least once a week for some of the most delicious gyros ever -- and for $4.

Their menu includes chicken, lamb, or steak gyros ($4), a couple of bratwurst and sausages ($4), Philly cheesesteaks ($4), and some Jerk Chicken and BBQ ribs. I always get the gyro, but their BBQ is hugely popular. They have a BBQ pit and when you order they get the ribs straight from it. I'm not sure of the price for that.
Today we picked up a couple of gyros, one lamb and one chicken. The meat is marinated and grilled, as are the peppers and onions (optional but included). They're topped with some really good feta, lettuce, and fresh tomatoes. The pita is soft, warm, and perfect. And man -- do they give you your money's worth! These are always filled to the point of mouth-stretching goodness. It's all you can wrap your hands around.

Naturally, they don't take credit or debit, so come with cash. They also offer cokes, lemonade, and water for $1. For people who work or live near us -- the Franklin Park area -- there aren't a lot of options for a quick, inexpensive lunch other than Subway and Wendy'. I have no idea why anyone would ever go to one of those instead of here. From downtown, go up East Broad toward Franklin Park, and turn left on Taylor at East High School just before the park.
