So today I walked around GV & saw a "For Rent" sign on the Starbucks across from Cup O Joe.
Made. My. Day. :)

I wouldn't mind a no-frills German restaurant with German beer in its place.

There's already two German restaurants in GV offering pretty different experiences, I'd hate to see a third drag business away from them.
ETA: They could just reopen Isaly's, I think the family still owns the building and a bacon and egg sub would do me good!
Jeni's. Naturally.
Isaly's was kind of the Jeni's of 30-40 years ago. The Klondike Bar didn't invent itself you know ;)
Not a whole lot poppin in GV these days, has GV lost it's edge?
When will a MCL Cafeteria go in? Ensure bombs instead of jäger? A Chicos and Tommy Bahama perhaps?
Actually, Starbucks is open: the apartment upstairs is for rent. A Jeni's still would be nice.
why applaud the neighborhood losing another business (and a few people losing their jobs)?
I like cup of joe, but cross 3rd every once in a while and frequent starbucks when I want something different (and the folks who work in there are incredibly friendly), nothing wrong with variety of coffee in the neighborhood.
Hoping its just the apartment upstairs for rent.
Drove by earlier and Starbucks was open.
Well, the last one that closed is going to be a chocolate boutique, so if something else that good goes in it'll be a win. Now that I think about it, I'd like a little German grocer with imported meats and cheeses.

Seems that if it's a job at Walmart, Starbucks, Hummer, or the KFC in Clintonville, those job losses can be celebrated here.
With a new business comes new jobs. Maybe more or less, depending, but it's not like the number of jobs here just disappears. I'm guessing it's still open regardless, so maybe the thread name can be corrected. I know we have numerous GV residents here who could confirm this, so...
As Walker noted, its still open. I got a coffee there today.
Does it smell funny in there to anyone else?
Well, question answered. Thanks, & sorry for the confusion.
