So, I tried to learn about 9 years ago and failed miserably and that has never sat well with me. I got a good deal on a Fender Starcaster Acoustic, now I just need a good teacher. Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? If it's a hot chick willing to teach me Billy Madison style, even better.

What style do you want to learn? Or just "general guitar playing stuff"?
I have a good friend who teaches & lives in this area. He's not a hot chick though. BUT you can use those guitar skills to land the babes.

Either classical or just how to read tabs AND learn the notes behind them. Or a mixture of both. As long as they know what they are doing! Ha ha

I bought This DVD for my laptop about 6 weeks ago and it is pretty effective. It teaches you by actually playing songs. Also you can find a lot of free lessons on youtube. When I am bored I just sit in front of my laptop and practice. I can honestly say that I am decent after only a month and a half. But I have always been semi-musically inclined.

My friend has a degree in Classical Guitar from Cinci & Jazz Performance from OSU, so he's pretty good at that stuff. He can show you tabs & notation as well. I'll PM you the info as soon as I track it down.

Just a heads up, there's going to be things you want to do yourself. Learning tab should be one of those things. It's really quite easy to understand. Don't think it's as complex as actually reading music, because it isn't.blammo wrote What style do you want to learn? Or just "general guitar playing stuff"?

sounds perfect, thank you. And i am doing tabs on my own. However, If I am paying for something, i will make myself accountable. If it's just left up to me, I know I will slack off.

Do you think he could teach me to play this:

Because if I could nail that, from beginning to end, I think I could pretty much call it good.

I can do that, if we uh…skip the solos.
PS: I saw Heaven & Hell in Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago. BADASS!!!!!

 That's like 10 minutes off of a 40 minute album!

ahhh…don't you want to "express yourself"? :D Get in that pentatonic box and wiggle around for a few minutes!
true fact:
My first band played nothing but Ramones songs and Black Sabbath songs, minus the solos…because our guitarist couldn't play solos. Strangely enough, they sounded remarkably similar.
