There's a local artist who has been leaving art pieces around abandoned buildings in our neighborhood. I definitely don't want to unmask him/her publicly, but my wife and I are big fans of the work, so if you know who it is, please PM me and let me know. The pieces are done on large sheets of particle board, and feature faces that are a little reminiscent of Sendak's "Wild Things." I've also seen what seems to be the same artist's work in public areas on Parsons and in the Short North.

I'm betting this person is either a part of the CU community or known to someone who posts on these boards.

Check out the blue bird at the corner of East Gay and N 20th...very cool and subtle. The artist looks very talented! They must have painted this by flashlight at 4 a.m. It is very high quality. The hipsters we saw on Saturday am were white 20 ish something guys ( 3 of them about 11am) and all redhead dudes on mountain bikes...one had a beard...very thin!!

These are two details of the same image.

What I appreciate about this guy's method of doing guerrilla art is that there's no property damage --the pieces are on particle board, so they can easily be removed by the property owner if they so choose.

Theres an artist who's paintings you see in his yard East of Miller at McAllister Ave. don't seem too far off from this, maybe so maybe no.

The mystery blue bird at N20 and E Gay is actually on the brick of the building wonder if the same guerilla artist? Different genre as well - very strange, but beautiful

Chris, Any idea on the artist that created and painted mysterious blue bird in King Lincoln? Is anyone awaye of other blue birds of the same design painted on red brick?

Yeah that looks like a certain buddy of mines work. I don't think I should reveal who though. If so he lives in the area. He's a nice guy. Klue I'm not sure about the birds, I would need to see them. I hope no one has suffered property damage.

Update - The eerie, mysterious blue bird at the corner of N 20th and East Gay (North of East Broad and South of East Long) in King Lincoln/Olde Towne has unfortunately disappeared.

It was washed away in Sunday's storms. We thought it had been painted on the bricks in acrylics, but now realize it was chalk. The face looked kind of like a sea lion or mammal not reptilian....must be same artist...prophetic!

I want to emphasize again how great this ethic of non-damaging Guerilla art is --i.e. painting on boards instead of walls, or in chalk instead of permanent paint. It really implies an artist who is both generous (with their art) and thoughtful.

Anyone see any more of these amAzing artsitic blue birds in King Lincoln or Olde Towne Arts District areas? The other one was very, very beautiful almost human-like.

Now it is gone with the summer rains!!!

We were wondering if there are others we are not aware of that are hidden or in secret areas out of sight? The Mayan prophecy talks about artistic bird omens as well..maybe a connection?
