We have a small conference here in town in 2 weekends and I'm looking for suggestions for dinner for about 15-20 of us. Some of the people are staying at the Hampton Inn on High so anyplace that's in the Short North or walkable would be desired. 1 major problem is that Gallery Hop is the same night so I can only imagine how slammed the restaurants will be on Saturday night.
Here's what I'm looking for: a place that can accommodate a group of 15-20 preferably in a private room. Short North or nearby is preferred, but German Village or Downtown would be ok as well. Obviously a place like Buca di Beppo would work but we'd like something local and unique.
Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

I think the Gallery Hop would be a great thing for visitors despite dining places being slammed. Put in a reservation now and at least you will not have to wait for a table.

As far as private rooms are concerned, the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is Gordon Biersch.
Outside of the private room requirement, DeepWoods would be a natural.

Two weekends might be far enough away.... I'd say call Basi Italia and ask if they can handle a party that size on the dates you have in mind. I doubt it, but it's worth a shot. The inside of the restaurant would very nearly be a private room, it's so small; patio would be better, though I don't know if reservations would be possible -- but the best part is, it's not even a five-minute walk from the Hampton Inn. Much more local and interesting than Buca etc., great neighborhood feel.
Barring that, Alana's can set up one of their three rooms for a private party around that size, I believe, though they're not nearly as close.

Latitude 41 can accommodate larger groups with sectioned off private areas and may not be slammed depending on what else is going on in the hotel conference areas that weekend. Might be worth a shot.
