Hi. I just arrived in Columbus this week, though I found this website about a couple of weeks before and it's been very helpful in teaching me about life here. I've moved here from New York, believe it or not - a lifetime spent there was beginning to seriously bring me down to the point where I needed a change of scenery. I'd been to Columbus before and liked it; made several friends here as a matter of fact. The Indie Art Capital stuff appeals to me too; I write as well as draw. Basically I was looking for a town smaller than New York yet with a strong cultural atmosphere and enough stuff going on to keep me from being bored, and Columbus fit the bill.

Greeting from another New Yorker!!! I came to Columbus via Ohio State ... and never left. It is DEFINITELY different here (and NOT New York -- where I would be if I could afford it), but it is a pretty cool place.

Nice to have you here!

My wife and I are also from NY. (The state, not the city. Not sure if that counts.) Welcome!

Hey Ratzo! Sounds like you've come to the right place for this chapter in life. I returned to Ohio after living in Auckland, NZ with plans to ship out to Boston asap (and have friends telling me I must join them in NYC), but this place has a way of growing on you, especially when the weather is lovely and strangers you pass on the street are smiling. I've been meeting tons of interesting people (especially CUers) that contribute to a positive, promising energy downtown and a growing community core that makes me want to stick around for the fun. Hope to run into you sometime! :D

Welcome!
This is a BIG weekend Columbus... Some suggested Must-do's
1.) Park Street Festival - pop into North Market for Jeni's Ice Cream and some good Vietnamese at Lac Viet - very affordable too.
2.) Gallery Hop - Short North Saturday Night - Make sure to check out http://www.haikuhelp.com for a list of special events, music, and drop by the art exchange http://www.theartexchangeltd.com/
3.) Columbus Art Festival - go early before the crowds unless you like to people watch
What else is going on this weekend people? Thats my only criticism with Columbus... there TOO much to do during the summer- you really have to pick and choose.

Just let me join the chorus and say "Welcome" as well. And Stacky is absolutely right ... this place has a way of growing on you, even if you're not all about it when you first come here. And it sounds like you were already had a positive mindset when you came, so all the better.

Brunch at ZenCha, Sunday at 10 a.m.
Slow Food Refectory Dinner, tonight at 6:30 (but I'm pretty sure there's no more availability -- you'd have to call the Refectory at this point and ask if they can squeeze you in)

Welcome to Columbus, and welcome to Columbus Underground. :D

Greetings from a Philly transplant! This place truly DOES grow on you, especially the places to eat. I think my affection for Columbus started in my taste buds and radiated out.
