Outside of Mad Greek on E. Broad (which, from what I can remember, was pretty good) are there any other good sit down options for Greek food in CMH that isn't a $5 Gyro carryout?

Easy Street Cafe in German Village is my favorite. I adore their flaming cheese!

Honestly, pick any restaurant which is Mediterranean in focus and you've got the experience. Anna's. Mazzah. Cafe Shish Kebab. Unless you are looking for a few oddities like flaming cheese, the cuisine is pretty much the same. Blame the Ottoman Empire. The differencea within Greece are often more than the difference across the East end of the Basin.

Nazareth Deli has tons of sit down in their new spot (across the street from the old one).
Their stuffed grape leaves (isn't that dolmades?) are outstanding, and they are the best gyros in town IMO.

The Big Fat Greek Kuzina in Upper Arlington is fantastic. Great food & staff.

I think Mazah may be the winner after taking a look at the menu.

I have enjoyed my visits to Greek Corner on 161 near Sawmill.

There is a new Greek place that opened up on Lane Ave. near the Buckeye Corner. It's fantastic.
Otherwise, there is are two SMALL greek places in Fifth by Northwest - one with a much more extensive menu than the other.
Hella's is on Northwest at 3rd next to the carryout.
Loops is at the corner of Northwest and King.Hella's has about six seats inside; the owners are first generation greek. Loops is more of an urban greek - the owners are second generation.

This place is great. I read a review that wasn't amazing but I completely disagreed with it. I'm now craving the Pastitsio!

A.Interesting, I had no idea. In any case, that chicken zagoria is one of my favorite dishes in Columbus to date.
LOTW, I tried that Mad Greek out on East Broad the other day for the first time in probably 3-4 years and was happy to see they now have their liquor license. I wasn't all that impressed with the dish I got, was sort of bland, but Mrs. Snarf enjoyed her salad quite a bit.
There is a place in Pickerington next to La Fogata that is really good but I can't think of the name of it right now.

Not the most intuitive/pretty website, but we really like their food: Mykonos Taverna in Gahanna.

This takes us way off topic, but the history of Greek cuisine is really interesting. Like everywhere else in the E Med, the Ottoman Empire put an indelible stamp on things. Even many of the words have Turkish origins. After independence, a hugely influential writer named Tselementes essentially re-wrote Greek cuisine and gave rise to dish like moussaka which, via the bechamel for example, really have roots in European (French) classical cuisine. He may well have believed that these dishes and techniques were originally Greek. I had a really interesting convo w/ my mil about his cookbooks and what a big deal it was when they were available in Cyprus - every newly wed got them!
What is amusing is that many dishes I associate with true mainland Greek restaurant cooking, I seldom see here - feta topped shrimp in a tomato-ouzo sauce was one. (My Big Fat ... has this.)

thanks for all the recommendations! You won't be sorry, Mazah has very good food. My favorite hummus in Columbus and I love their grilled lamb. Now I'm craving it :)
The sample plates on the menu won me over as most of our dinner dates end up being a shared food experience. Can't wait to try it out!

Make sure you get a side of their hot sauce if it's not included in what you order; well worth it!
