I work at Polaris, which is short on independently owned, non-franchise food fair, but two of my favorites are right beside each other on Sancus: Ha Long (Vietnamese, south east asian) and Cuisine of India. Ha Long serves baby clams in a noodle bowl with other veggies that is stupendous. We've been hearing rumors that they're moving...I hope not. Cuisine is now competing with Bay Leaf on Polaris which has a monster buffet and is also pretty good.

We always get it to go, but I'm wondering if there's any difference in quality or any special rolls that they make at the bar.

I haven't been in months, though. THat's one of the good/bad things about Columbus' size/expansive dining opportunities: there are so many places to try that it sometimes is hard to make a round back to your favorites. Or perhaps the favorites are too many.

Yanni's is really good Greek food, it's on Cleveland right behind the neon nightmare that is Dreamgirls. In the plaza next to that is Costelo's, good Puerto Rican food, but has struggled with consistency. It's been a while since I have eaten there but when it's good, it's damn good. A little further south in the Columbus Bowling Square plaza is Nazareth, my favorite Middle Eastern place. The owner and staff are wonderful and the food is delicious. The same plaza also hosts Mi Li, very good bahn mi and pho. There are other options a little further south but I am thinking it might take too long. I miss working in that area, although it's a lot easier to pack my lunch now :) Oh

I love that place.

Funny thing, looking back at this I realize how many great spots were right under my nose and I didn't even know they were there. Thanks Bethia and Columbus Food Adventures for opening my eyes to places like Salam Bakery and the many others you've reviewed! Looking forward to trying many more of them this year.
ETA: Kitchen Little = YUM - many thanks to roy for that!!

We just ate lunch @ Cafe Del Mondo http://www.fruttadelmondo.com for the first time today and it was terrific!
I had the spaghetti and meatball, perfectly cooked pasta, the sauce was just great and the meatball, oh the meatball was sinfully good.
Mishelle had the Philly Cheese Panini that was equally as tasty.
Both servings were generous, I barley finished mines and she took half her sandwich with her. Can't believe I've worked downtown all this time and am just now getting around to them. I'm so ashamed...Posted 1 year ago # -
Agreed vestanpance :)

I tried the BBQ joint at North Market today. It wasn't bad. I also like Si Senor for lunch. El Arepazo is never a bad option (except when they close for the last two weeks of the year).
I have yet to try J Gumbos. Any thoughts on that?

Yeah, the drunken chicken is good if you like spicy food.

I love J. Gumbo's, and it's a steal for only $5-$6.

Drooling just thinking about it now. The dishes can be a bit carb-heavy, but they're one of my very favorite (quite authentic) Italian luncheries.
When I used to work at 5th and High, I liked going to Skully's for lunch. It's surprisingly awesome, and really reasonably priced. (Hello, fried mac-n-cheese balls.)
My tongue is tres happy to visit La Chatelaine for lunch toujours.
