Inspired by American Idol and Dancing With the Stars, 30 central Ohio arts groups will compete in the 200 Columbus Invitational Arts Competition.Organized by a small group of artists and activists led by musician Chris Sunami, the program will include a performing-arts competition, a visual-arts exhibit and a musical-recordings showcase. Winners will be announced at a later awards program.
“It’s definitely a gamble, but we hope there will be some synergy from bringing so many groups together, each with their own supporters,” said Sunami, who conceived the idea in spring 2011.
