Council OKs new zoning district, rezoning for Yard

Grandview Heights City Council Monday night approved ordinances to create a new zoning classification for the area that includes the Grandview Yard project and to rezone the affected property.

With the passage of the legislation, approximately 89.1 acres bounded by West Third Avenue on the north, the CSX railroad tracks on the east and West Goodale Boulevard on the south will be rezoned to the new Grandview Commerce Mixed Use District (GCMXD).

Apartments site-plan review tabled

A major site plan review application for the purpose of constructing three apartment buildings at the Grandview Yard development was tabled at the July 20 Grandview Heights Planning Commission meeting at the request of the applicant, Nationwide Realty Investors.

Willis insurance brokerage heading to Grandview Yard

Grandview Yard has scored a major office tenant in insurance brokerage Willis Group Holdings Plc.

The British company is moving its approximately 100 area employees to Grandview Yard’s main office building at 775 Yard Street. Willis, Central Ohio’s largest insurance brokerage, has signed a 10-year lease for about 23,000 square feet, taking nearly the entire second floor of the building. It expects to move in by the end of the year.

Review: Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill

The Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill opened last November, and was one piece of the first phase of the much-discussed Grandview Yard development. Despite what the name might imply, the Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill has absolutely nothing to do with the Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe which closed in 2009 and was demolished to make room for a new Springhill Suites hotel on Olentangy River Road.

NRI application on Grandview planning commission agenda

An application from Nationwide Realty Investors for a major site plan review will be on the agenda Aug. 22 at a special meeting of the Grandview Heights Planning Commission. NRI is seeking approval of the site plan review for the construction of three apartment buildings in the Grandview Yard development.

I was looking around the G.Y. website for the maps they used to have that showed where different parts of the development would be built. Nothing like that on the G.Y. website now. I recall something similar to Easton, with a central shopping district surrounded by offices, then housing on the outside edges. The website still says, "The master plan for Grandview Yard includes 1.5 – 2 million square feet of commercial space."

So these new apartments are being built in the interior area of the G.Y. space. Where is the big shopping area going to be? Right up along side the residential area? I don't see how these apartments fit into the "master plan".

While that would be great, I hope rent is kept reasonable. I live just south of Discovery (E Town) and I have a feeling that in 5 years, barring a sizable income increase, I'm going to be facing a choice between keeping an apartment here and having disposable income.

$800 for a 1BR in the Yard with parking sounds reasonable, though. Hopefully its a decent size and not an Arena-Crossing-esque "1BR".

I think the apartments will be nice and will rent out quickly as most of the apartments available in Grandview are pretty old with hit or miss updating. Though I believe that NRI may also be responsible for Arena-Crossing; I will hazard a guess that the 1 bedroom for $800 will be a pretty small studio apt.

City pleased with Yard a year after opening

Sept. 1 marks the one-year anniversary of the community open house that opened the first phase of the Grandview Yard project.

Despite a poor economy, Nationwide Realty Investors continues to proceed with the project.

I agree, Chik-Fil-A has the best chicken sandwich in town.

If it turns out to be true, I bet it would be a free-standing store on an outparcel fronting Goodale.

The rumors I've heard is that there are talks to put a Chik-Fil-A at the site on the corner of Goodale and Olentangy where Liberty's used to be.
