The front of Tribeca kind of looks like the back of a grocery store. ;)
I wonder what the back of the new Giant Eagle will look like?

You think they would have run the garages along the West side, to potentially block the sounds of trains going by.... or did they? It's a fortress, I can't see inside.

Looks like construction is beginning now. Signs have gone saying the site is a hard hat zone and utility works appears to be starting. From the marked out stakes it looks like the site is going forward as originally proposed.
It's a competition between Tribecca and this grocery store for who has the worst street presence on 3rd...
FYI "fortress" Tribeca so far:
It is a god awful, is it NRI that is responsible for this?

I think it's Edwards Communities.
Yes.

I see that plans have already changed.. there was supposed to be spacing between the garage units. This is like the crack haven from New Jack City!

Well, someone found a way to make apartments there look attractive. But then I like fortresses.

Attractive? wha?
All it needs now is a moat in front and it's set.
The actual building is pretty nice looking though, just oriented in the wrong direction ... kinda like the new giant eagle next door...
I'm still puzzled why Columbus lacks city-wide design review boards or better zoning. A big problem in this city is that there is no direction as far as our built environment goes - there is a lack of a healthy street language and there is definitely a hodgepodge of architecture that seems to be growing, which makes for the continuation of meaningless, strange, disorganized places.

I don't consider it a problem and don't think we need more bureaucrats sticking their nose in and slowing down the process and increasing the price. Not interested in Columbus development turning into Dublin or Agrestic.

The process we have now is very time consuming - current zoning codes are complex and there are often zoning boards that can slow down the process considerably. Form-based codes (or any new design-based code) is much easier to follow, greatly speeds the process, and results in better and predictable buildings/development.
Big ol' pile of dirt all piled up over there...
