I'm taking my parents to a restaurant in Grandview next weekend, (they've never been)....What do you recommend? I've heard Vino Vino or Figlio? :?: Anyone have any suggestions?

Both are great! Spagio is great for parents too! Jeni's for ice cream afterwards!

I have a friend in GView that says Vino Vino is just "meh." I have always enjoyed Figlio. However, I think the best restaurant in GView hands down is Z Cucina. Sooooo good.

Z Cucina is your best choice. The food there is a bit better than either Spagio or the Figlio hive. More importantly, you will have a more enjoyable and convivial dinner as Z will treat you and the whole dining experience better.

I haven't been to the other restaurants mentioned (yet) but I really enjoyed Thom's. Not sure if the price point is the same or not...
but for what it's worth, I thought the food was excellent, and I was with a pretty big group... I think there were 8 of us, and everyone's meal looked good.

I forgot to mention...if you go to Z Cucina the duck is amazing there if you are a fan of duck. They also have some great fried risotto ball thingies and super beef carpaccio.
I really want to go back there now. I definitely think your parents should take me too. :D

My vote would be for Trattoria Roma! Thom's is also very good.

Oh...and don't dare leave without someone ordering the butterscotch pannacotta for dessert.
I just went cross eyed just thinking about it.

I tried everyone of them except Thom's and I would have to say Z Cucina is my favorite. Like someone mentioned before, the duck is really good. But really you can't go wrong with any of them. They are all very good restaurants.
Doesn't the food from Vino Vino come from Figlio's? They are connected and owned by same owner.

I have to second Trattoria Roma as my favorite in Grandview. And Spagio Cellars is great for a drink after dinner!

Johnny's on Glenn?
Yeah...great food there...if you're eating a depression sandwich while on a suicide watch.
Worst. Bar. Ever.

Your friend is way off base - Vino Vino IS Figlio's (owned and operated by Peter and Laurie Danis) and it's equally as good - I've never had anything less than excellent food & service at both. They are connected and they share a kitchen. We tend to go to the Arlington Figlio's, though, as it is closer to Westgate, though.

nope.... different kitchens, different cooks....the only thing from vino vino that comes from the figlio kitchen is the pizzas...all 3 of them on the menu..

Also have to agree that Grandview Cafe is not really anything special.

I love Johnnie's on Glenn! Not a good place for dinner, but it's a quiet neighborhood bar with a good jukebox and $1 bottles (all the time). What's so bad about that?

We stopped at GC for the first time in years for luch recently and were terribly disappointed. The fish and chips i had was awful - the oil it was cooked in was way too hot, so the outside looked overdone and the inside was barely cooked - tasted terrible. And they had no cocktail sauce. The cook made a valiant effort to create some, but it, too, fell flat. My wife had the scottish burger, the one with the egg on it - the egg should have been cooked just a bit more, it was way too runny, and the beef was overcooked for a medium done burger. We used our prestige card, so it only cost us half (thank goodness).

Surprising!!!
I've had a lotta F&C at the GC and it has always been poifect.
Having said that, 1/2 off isn't good enough if you're that disappointed...the restaurant is there to make you happy in exchange for your cash. You shouldn't pay to be unhappy IMO...
