I am looking for a graffiti art piece similar to that on the fencing on the corner of High & Hubbard streets. Ideally, I would like a 4ft high x 6ft wide piece of plywood painted by a local artist to hang on my apartment wall. Any clues as to who did the art work on that corner and/or suggestions on who to get in touch with? Also, any CCAD students interested? Thanks!

I am almost positive you could get that piece. I think something new is going to happen with is soon. Would you be willing to make a contribution (maybe half to the SNBA, half to FAD) for it? I'll see what I can find out for you.

Absolutely. Please let me know what you find out. Thank you!

you want to contact Chris Sherman http://www.columbusunderground.com/forums/profile/cds-sherman
Those panels have been worked over several times, if there's a bit you like describe it to him and he may know the artist/s (much of what's going on there is collaborative)

ashley voss aka coreroc did the bird piece. the others were tag teamed by various artists at past urban scrawls and independence day.

Thanks so much for the leads. Sounds like Ashley Voss and the Franklinton Arts District are who I should reach out to at this point. Should have mentioned the work in Franklinton rather than just High & Hubbard - really cool stuff there. I also look forward to hearing from @Tigertree any other suggestions. If nothing else, I will definitely be at the next Urban Scrawl if one is planned.

A friend told me PBJ got caught tagging in the Jury Room a few days back. These guy should be treated as a criminal gang and just get wiped out.

I totally get the anger towards these people that are being criminals and vandalizing the property of small businesses and other private and public property (and apparently threatening and assaulting people), but I wonder about the awareness about the difference between the art and the criminals given these posts on this thread. Maybe it is the convenience of this recent thread that has resulted in the comments, but I think it is important to recognize the value of the contributions of our local artists and their public art. I just hope that there is a commonly recognized clear distinguishment between the two.

jason, check out the previous graffiti threads for some in depth discussion between the perceived/real differences between art and vandalism. Long, but interesting reads.

Seems like lately every neighborhood has been getting bombed. They are upsetting the balance. Some here some there no big deal. But when it's constant and all over the city they will crack down. We will either see more arrests or taggers getting assaulted or even worse shot or vice versa. Something gonna give when the weather breaks I have a feeling. If they were smart they would chill out let the heat die down. When they come to a neighborhood like franklinton or linden or whatever property owners deal with this shit in very different ways... Very violent messy ways. It's happened before.

Sarah should know better! If people want to know who did what at Urban Scrawl years past, they should contact me, not Chris. As the creator of the festival and the person that coordinates the art every year, I can tell you exactly who did what and put you in contact with them.
(If you want to buy one of the panels that are already up, then you should definitely talk to Chris or an authorized FAD representative.)

Yeah def contact Nikos, he knows all the artist and has their contact info. To touch on kbears comment, urban scrawl will be at 400 this year due to pool construction at dodge park. Because of the location we can now easily do a 2 event. We havnt worked out all the details but lots of additions are in the works. Look for updates in the coming months.
