Condé Nast plans to announce this morning that it will close Gourmet magazine, a magazine of almost biblical status in the food world; it has been published since December 1940.
This is a very dark day in my world :( I love Gourmet - it's about the only magazine I prefer in print format, to take to the coffee shop on a Sunday morning or read on the front porch with a cocktail or peruse while making a grocery list.
Is there anything comparable out there? There seem to be so many food magazines out there for people who can't cook well (Rachael Ray Everyday, Bon Apetit, Everyday Food, etc.) Some of the others are too technical and not sexy, like Gourmet is (Cooks Illustrated.) What can I replace it with?
