If you're the proud new owner of a scooter or motorcycle, please don't forget to wave to other cyclists as they pass.
The biker hand salute is extending your left hand out and down while riding, with your palm facing forward. This is done to acknowledge another motorcycle rider who is riding past you in the opposite direction.
As gas prices rise and motorcycling and scooting becomes more popular, it's important that this small, but important cultural gesture be maintained.

yeah. i was trying to figure out how to say that ALSO, but i couldent figure it out.
i pulled into easy rider yesterday and got laughed out of the lot on my POS honda. it was fun.

I'll wave to anyone on two. I've found that the brand of motorcycle isn't necessarily indicative of the rider's attitude. On the other hand, If I see a squid or some other ridiculous crap out there I'll sometimes give a point wave and shake my head.
If a bicyclist is out there and following rules of the road, I give them some love and roadside chatter too.
... and a closed two fingers to the other Beemers out there.

i've actually been taken aback by the amount of Harley cruisers who've extended the left-hand down low for me on my 150cc. I presume they think I'll eventually grow-up, wise-up and get a piece of Milwaukee.
