I take my dog to Goodale once or twice a week during the Spring/Summer. He loves to "hunt" squirrels, stalking them for a bit then chasing them up a tree (he has never caught one). Yesterday while at the park, he zeroed in on one and started chasing it and out of nowhere comes this huge hawk like bird with its' talons out trying to grab the squirrel too! I didn't see if the bird got the squirrel or not and it didn't harm my dog, but I'm wondering what kind of bird is this? I saw a bird like this in the park this past fall; it was sitting on the ground and then flew up in a tree. It was huge and shaped like an eagle or something. This is unlike any bird I've ever seen in this park (or actually anywhere else). Has anyone seen this bird or know what it is?
On another note, I had to make an emergency bathroom visit in the park yesterday. I almost never visit the porta potties located near the center parking lot unless I absolutely, positively have to.
I will never be the same.
It was beyond gross -- the one I used. I couldn't even use the first one, it was even worse if that is possible. It's 24 hours later and I'm still traumatized. If it's going to be like that then there shouldn't be porta potties in the park at all. Goodale is such a great park, not just for dog lovers but parents, children, teenagers -- everybody. I cannot imagine being a parent of a small child and having to take them into one of those things. And the park is full of small children with those new play areas. Anyway, I just had to get this off my chest. Thanks for listening.
