Good Place for Ten Year HS Reunion?

Aloha, all:

My 10-year high school class reunion is this summer and I was curious if anyone had any recommendations (or warnings) with respect to venues in the Columbus area for the purpose. My HS graduating class was in the 180 range (average IQ as well as size, of course ...), but we're obviously not going to have anywhere near that many people coming. The school was an exurban school between Columbus and Newark, so someplace in Columbus' eastern half, or in neighboring regions of Licking or Fairfield County, would be best.

Mine, (and we went to the same high school) was at gameworks at easton and it was lame. It was great to see everyone but that place is too chaotic and loud. And I believe closed now too...

For the evening.
We got in touch with a bar with a large patio space.

Told them upfront that our class was going to be around from 6pm until close and we'd like our own area and servers.

My graduating class was in the 300ish size, but we only had maybe 1/5th of that show up through the course of the night.

In the current economy, you might also want to consider those who can't necessarily afford to go out for drinks where they don't serve $2 drafts of a cheap domestic.

The next day:
Well, I went home and didn't stick around for the festivities, but I heard that the organizer setup a picnic at a park where they could bring a keg. Frisbee, flag football, and random other shit like that ensued.

First thing to do is check your alumni roster for restaurant/bar owners in the area. That's what my class has done traditionally, and it works out really nicely.

Good luck to you. Whatever pricepoint you end up at, lots of people will complain that it's too expensive. Make sure people pay before the event, if not, some people apparently don't feel bad about stiffing you.
The restaurant/bar idea is nice, and many have private rooms for such occasions. Just make sure to keep it as easy as possible on your end. People will be there for the people and drinks, not so much the food and atmosphere.

We had one of ours at Planks on High, and it was a nice set-up, but that might be too far from your area. We are having one this year, and it is at 94th...but I believe it is pretty pricey ($40) per person...which I think will probably be too much for many. Also, it depends if people will bring sig. others. I never take my husband...he'd rather not go. Although, I have been saying all year, why organize a reunion???...didn't we all find each other on FB already..ha ha.

Whaaaaa? Professor Gram is only 28 years old? Sheesh.

My HS reunion was at a country club. $50/plate dinner with a cash bar. It felt like a wedding reception. Not necessarily a bad thing - in fact, I had fun - but it was kind of stuffy.

If you're going for a banquet-style vibe, consider the Copper Lodge. Formerly the Westerville Schmidt's, it's currently the FOP headquarters. They rent it out for special events and private parties, with catering on-site.
