Just moved to Columbus with my wife from NYC. and we feel there is a definite lack of good pizza joints in the neighborhood of short short.
Can anyone recommend a good pizza place here in the area???

PLANKS on Parsons down in GV......the best. There is already a thread on this....maybe Walker can find it and link you to the discussion...quite extensive.
Well, if you're looking for NY Style pizza by the slice type spot, you may be in for some trouble ;)
Here's a short list of favorites from C/U though:
Rubino's, Plank's, Hound Dogs, Easy Street, Rotolo's, Figlio's, Flying Pizza, Pizza Kitchen, and others will add as well :)
I've always liked the pizza at Rossi.
Honestly, though, I haven't met any east coaster (or Chicago native, for that matter) who can ever find it in themselves to be content with the pizza around here.
Rossi
I know I am a broken record on here when it comes to pizza suggestions, but until someone else comes to the plate and starts talking about Adriaticos, I am going to keep suggesting it.
Rossi = best NY style pizza in town. Across from United Dairy Farmers convenience store in the Short North.
Also...there are a few take and bake places called Papa Murphy's. I just discovered these places recently...their pizza is very good and AMAZINGLY inexpensive.
As a fellow refugee from the East Coast I think the best NYC style pie is Flying Pizza on High Street just south of 15th on campus. The owner is from Brooklyn and is an Italian New Yorker who fled the crime of NYC with his 2 brothers (each of whom opened a pizza place in Ohio) and makes a pretty decent NYC style by the slice pizza. Not a lot of choice of toppings, and as a purist I wouldn't get anything from him but a plain cheese pizza (he does sell whole pies, and does not deliver). It's worth going and dealing with the lack of parking in the area.
Surprised nobody's mentioned Cafe Napolitano yet. That, and Flying Pizza are probably your two best bets.
Serefino's in the North Market is respectable too, but thier crust is a little airy/crispy compared to traditional NYC pizza.
My favorite in the SN is Rossi. Adriaticos isn't NY style, but it is so good you might poke your eyes out...and they deliver to the SN.
With both my parents being native brooklyn-ites, i'll have to agree with the lack of a really good New York style pizza here. I haven't been to Rossi yet, but i'll agree with Flying Pizza and/or Serefino's in the North Market.
I would pay for the guy from the corner of Hollywood and Vine to move his shop to Columbus.
i like the pizza at the planks on high honestly. if you like the sweet crust like the parsons one, you gotta go down parsons to frebis and get a Johnny's Pizza. its killin planks IMO.

I gotta say, thanks for the heads up. I'm still looking for the elusive thin crust, fold it in half, use a napkin to soak up the grease NY style (or in my case NJ style) pizza. A couple of people have recommended Adriadico's (sp?) but they weren't acutally from the area, so don't quite understand the nuances. I've driven by Flying Pizza a zillion times, and always thought it looked promising. Will now try it for sure.

Yep- the Rossi: Thin crust thats floppy in the middle but crispy on the outside and a little salty. GREAT sauce, quality cheese, and the smallish crispy pepperoni.
Fold it and go!
I have to agree with anyone saying the Rossi is the best place for NYC-style pizza in Columbus.
Sbarros is better than any of the other "NYC" pizza place in Columbus. And that's available in most malls and airports.
The fact that people piss their pants over Adriatico's pizza just boggles my mind.

adriaticos has become my favorite here in town. the big buckeye dominates our post-bar cuisine.
i'm not sure why everyone hates on columbus pizza, especially the token 'it's no chicago style or new york style' contributors. i've lived in both cities, and i think columbus has a ton of delicious options. the rossi pizza is tasty (the style plus giardinera as a topping would please both chicago and nyc tastes). i freakin love minuteman (though the one on campus needs to tighten up), houndogs, peppercini's... too bad franco's is gone. plenty more to try out too...
i don't think anyone is specifically hating on Columbus pizza in this thread. Mostly it's people recommending anything close to New York style.
flying pizza best NYC style in columbus
Adriaticos best pizza in columbus
I don't have one favorite place for pizza because I enjoy the variety of different styles.
Thin pizza - Rubinos.
Anytime pizza - Donatos ain't bad IMO.
Feed large party pizza - Adriaticos.
Beer and pizza - Rossi or Planks on Parsons.
On the go pizza - Sarefinos in North Market.
Monday night dinner/Tuesday lunch pizza - half price deep dish from Fabians.
