I had two very good meals today but neither restaurant was as busy as the food warranted. Lunch was at Knead on High St in the Hampton Inn building. The pride themselves on sourcing ingredients locally. Their menu is small but everything is tasty and prices are fair. I had a fried chicken sandwich, with bacon, cheese, and poblano peppers. And the fennel ketchup is great. Dinner was at Zydeco on High in the Brewery District. I guess this used to be in the Riffe building but I hadn't know. The large menu has all the New Orleans favorites you could want and some additional create items. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. Unfortunately, I haven't see too many people in either spot but I'd definitely recommend them.

My favorite is Diaspora on High Street just south of Lane Avenue. They've got parking in back. Wonderful owners & service, fabulous food.

Oh, also... I've only been once but was impressed with Milo's Deli in Franklinton:
Plus, they almost always have discount gift cards available via Dine Originals, so you can get a pretty cheap lunch there if you remember to buy & print one in advance:

I consider Chile Verde a lesser known local place too. The owner is regularly there. I don't think they get enough credit for their food. The green chile stew is to die for.

Spiro's off McKinley. Best cheap breakfast around. My dad's favorite lunch spot because he always gets one of the specials like liver& onions or salisbury steak or chicken& noodles (Thursdays). I always opt for the one veggie selection- humus& veg gyro with fries or a greek salad. The owners are very cool Greek folks. Hubby in the kitchen slinging food& wife is up front taking the monies :)

I used to eat at the original Spiro's (corner of Trabue/McKinley) way back in the day. Great working class style joint, real food, etc.

Some other places I really enjoy that never seem to get discussed on CU: Aab Indian, Sparano's, Marino's Fish & Chips, #1 Gyro Shoppe on West Broad (although it's debatable how much better one Kronos gyro place can be from another).

I had carry out from there last night! Always excellent. I also put it on a list of must tries I made for one of my customers who is brand new to Columbus.
Also, P.S. Thai Thai on 5th is pretty darn good and inexpensive.
