Bear wrotehazy stars wrote The best part of the whole evening was the wine. My friend who is in the wine business was visiting from out of town (hence the early birthday dinner). We were able to acquire two very special bottles not available on the menu (thanks to Kevin). One was a Barbaresco (Piedmont is my favorite region) and the other was a Burgundy. *SIGH* And then the clock struck midnight and my coach turned into a pumpkin. I envy you who can live like this every day.Sounds amazing -- do you remember what kind of Barbaresco it was? I'm a big fan of Piedmontese wines myself.
I also envy those who live like that every day. I rarely if ever order a bottle from them, but when I do, it's a real treat -- Kevin and Guideon in particular are genuine wine geeks who are thrilled to bring you a really kick-ass bottle of wine.
Oh yes. They had to dig them out of the cellar for us (they were still a bit chilled). I'm having trouble remembering the Barbaresco -- it was 1998, though. The Burgundy was Clos De Lambrays (Domaine De Lambrays). Both were absolutely delicious.
Earlier in the day we enjoyed a Nickel to Nickel Chardonnay (Russian River) and a Far Niente Chardonnay with lunch. I had a good [week and a half early] birthday :D
