Glass Courthouse Staircase

People are causing a huge fuss over the new courthouse "glass staircase" This is causing people to bash the designers and the county over such a "ridiculous waste of money and inappropriate for a public building"

If you watch the video and look at pictures you can see the the Stairs themselves are NOT actually Glass but the Risers behind each stair are. I believe people are completely blowing this issue out of proportion! Many stairs now have no risers at all and have not for a long time to create the "open-air" and "modern" look. I do not see the huge deal with this as you cannot really see up while looking thorough risers anyway. How do you feel about it?

i wouldnt pay any attention to the topix message board via wnbs. you have to admit though there have been some pretty serious issues with the building, i heard that they had lots of issues with the roof as well. cost and budget overruns are a problem, just like i tell people about the main st bridge, they will forget.

The footage I saw on NBC4 - from standing below the stairs - you can absolutely see what the issue is. The riser is, after all, the space where legs are spread in stepping. Other buildings that have similar stairs either frost the glass or tint it in some way.

But, all said, it's not a new issue. I'm thinking of a certain escalator with highly polished angled chrome pieces along edges of the moving stairs, holding the railing, that allows anyone nearby to peer up a skirt.

I am a local lawyer and know Judge Lynch (the vocal complainer). I like her very much but she likes to draw a little attention to herself when it comes to things like this. That said, there seem to be quite a few goofs to the design of the new courthouse. The entryway through security on the left side is entirely hidden from view when you walk into the lobby/atrium. I find that to be an obvious design flaw bound to confuse anyone new to the courthouse.

The simple fix would be some reflective film or frost for the stairs. You could pick this stuff up for under a grand for the whole stair case. However I would not be shocked if the City spent 10 Grand on the mentioned above to fix it because they seem to lack money saving skills. lol

you mean the county? i would assume the city has nothing to do with county related stuff.
