So, Ive been thinking about cancelling my cable tv service. After a year with Time Warner, a promo deal I signed up with has expired and my bill has jumped up to $100 a month. Only $30 per month of that is the cable modem (which I plan on keeping) and I'm having a hard time justifying shelling out $70 per month ($840 per year) just to watch four seasonal shows. For that much money we could be buying the DVD boxed sets of those four shows and still be saving a ton.
I was a big cheerleader for DVRs when they first came out, but now that a lot of networks are airing their shows online in a pretty high quality format, it's pretty much killing my need for a DVR.
I feel like if cable companies were providing an a la carte service (as it's currently possibly being legislated to force them to do), I'd continue to pay for just Comedy Central and Bravo and nothing else. But since it's "all or nothing" and "all" costs me $840 per year, then I think I'm going to switch over to "nothing".
Anyone else in the same boat as me?
