Did anyone actually like this movie? I realize I'm kinda old, but first and foremost I think 50 cent is maybe the worst rapper ever. I hate the music, it feels like every time I see him in studio in this movie he's off beat and DEFINITELY robotic in delivery...and that's not even his acting. Maybe I just don't get the 50 Cent appeal, other than he actually lived some real thug life, but the movie...his acting...and his music...just utterly and completely sucked.

I also liked "Hustle and Flow", a nice pimp turned rapper story.

LOVED Hustle & Flow, have made several copies for friends in fact. I also agree with that list of great rappers and just not seeing how this guy is even in the same level as them!

I don't think he's on the same level as the others

So ironic, did you watch it on showtime? I watched it last night too. Not a bad movie, not good, originally watched the bootleg with my 58 year old white bread parents. Some horrible lines in the movie that make me cringe when i hear them they are so corny.
"im a gangster and im proud of it grandpa"
something like that
so corny
its mediocre
Personally 50 cent is my favorite rapper. Not necessarily because of his music, but i have so much respect for the guy as a man. He never bites his tongue, offending the black community, hollywood, whoever, i hate the kiss ass shit in hollywood and he never partakes in it.
just read his comments on britney spears vs the comments of other celebs
look at the business he has built in just a few years, its insane
all these rappers did all these ghetto liquors which no one bought
not 50
he takes an equity share in glaceau (sp?) early on when the only places that sold it were like whole foods and shit like that. a drink that caters to uppity white people, look at the growth of this company now, and no longer is it only whole foods but ghetto corner stores.
have any of you heard his interviews on howard stern?
classic interviews unbelievable some of the stuff he talks about.
50 cent has commented repeatedly that he isnt some "artist". if he makes a song and eminem and Dr. Dre say its horrible, he tosses it. He has no emotional attatchment to his "art" and puts out what he believes is going to sell.
While he might not be the greatest lyricist you cant deny his business acumen, charisma, and arrogance, these 3 things alone are why i like him, and to be far outway his "gangster past" as the reason why he is so famous.
listen to his mixtapes i fast forward the songs to the end where he talks shit
his shit talking is greater than his songs.
i dunno man to me 50 was the rap artist that i believe that i can most closely identify with. he seems to have the same ideals as myself.
Maybe its because we grew up less than a mile from each other. Must be a jamaica queens thing. lol

Yep, Showtime last night it was LOL!
I have actually heard him on Stern once and it was very entertaining, I also know a few people who read his book and enjoyed it a lot. Maybe I'll have to give him another chance when I haven't washed down a percocet with a half a bottle of wine :)
