Don't individuals acting in aggregate compose a group?

Isn't essentially white flight the story of many individuals acting in aggregate? Why wouldn't the reverse potentially have an equally powerful correlation?

Individual behaviors affect a tiny radius and are statistically within noise. *Aggregate* behavior of individuals is measurable in terms of something like property values over a neighborhood.

If you read the study, it is saying that neighborhoods more likely to treat gay couples as neighbors first (and based judgement on success at that) are more likely to have seen an increase in property values than places that reacted negatively to just their existence as gay couples (which saw decreases.) In other words, exactly the prescription expressed by joev, rus and Snarf.

My first pass is that this is something intuitively obvious (yet how it is missed is readily expressed in this thread) - places where the virtue of being a good neighbor (assuming that to be economically advantageous) trumps politically contentious and non-economic issues do better than places where a non-economic marker is given higher priority. The Columbus study just measured it and affirmed it.
