There's been a lot of buzz lately about the new fountain being installed later this year in Goodale Park. Friends of Goodale Park has been working with the community to raise the funds needed not only for the fountain's installation, but also for maintenance costs in the future. It's great to see the community coming together to support Goodale Park and public arts.
While fundraising continues, Friends of Goodale Park still needs your help with regular park upkeep. Even if you don't have a green thumb, you can still contribute to beautification in the park!
Friends of Goodale Park requests volunteers to assist with park cleanup on Saturday, September 11th, from 9:00am until 12:00pm. Volunteers will work throughout the park to remove litter, weed and water garden beds, re-work mulched areas, cleanup tennis court, picnic and playground areas, and perform general park maintenance. Immediately following the September 11th workday event, we will walk to North Market for lunch!
This is a great volunteer opportunity for all ages, and large groups are welcome!
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, and if you have extra garden tools to use that day (such as hand trowels and shovels), please bring them.
Volunteers can check in with Julie at the shelter house in the center of the park. Weather status will be posted at http://www.friendsofgoodalepark.org the morning of the event.
Please come out and do something great for your community!
To register for this event, or to request more information, please contact Julie Hallan, Volunteer Coordinator, at juliehallan@friendsofgoodalepark.org.
