Capstone Dental, located in the heart of Downtown Columbus @ 10 N High St Suite 403, would like to extend a FREE patient cleaning and check-up for two (2) lucky CUers.

Fine print:

You have to be able to come in for appointment tomorrow, Tuesday March 15th, 2011 between 8am-Noon. You have to post your experience on this thread and review Capstone on Google and Yelp! It doesn't matter if you have or don't have insurance, nor does it matter if you went to the dentist yesterday or haven't been for 10 years. Please, do not respond if you cannot fulfill these requirements. We don't want to hold an appointment for you unless you can make it.

(My Hygienist, Brea has the morning open, and she wants to stay busy)

I had my teeth cleaned there today. Great service and people. I've been going to the same dentist for 26 years so it's kind of interesting to see the new tools. Its kind of new school vs old school densitry. Very nice reception area and employees. I watched tv the whole time in the chair and was looking out over High St. Definately better than staring at a ceiling for an hour. If you work or live downtown this should be your dentist. Overall a very good experience.

I also had a great experience. I'd seen the same dentist since I was little (I have proof because of a picture of me in the dentist chair with giant stuffed dolphin.) That dentist has changed zero since, super stuck in the 80's...anyways...

Today was a refreshing change. The Capstone offices are easy to find and I grabbed a 3/hr meter on Gay that was 2:45min full! Easy walk over to Broad/High, really nice modern office well lit and nicely designed. No wait and I was in the chair with a nice view of the street below from the 4th floor window. Got to watch tv during the exam and cleaning which was nice, and then they use the tv to show you after the exam/cleaning exactly what's going on in your mouth which for me was tremendously helpful as I'm very visual. My old dentist has nothing like that.

For the cleaning instead of the normal scrapers my old dentist used, they used a water pick. Never experienced that before, and while still not exactly pleasant it was way better than the old method. Brea, my hygienist was super friendly and outgoing. Dr. Matt Snipes followed up and gave me a followup/schedule for future work. All very transparent and easy to understand as well as a program offering more flexible payment options.

I plan to return in October and would recommend Capstone to anyone looking for a awesome dentist in the downtown area. Thanks, Capstone Dental!

Thanks for the great reviews. Also, thanks for keeping us busy that morning and getting the word out about Capstone Dental. Here are a couple photos of our reception area and our view to High St.that Snarf mentioned. If they load...

It was a great experience and I will definitely offer something similar to CUers in the future if we have an open morning. That is if Walker let's Capstone hi-jack the messageboard again :)

As a general answer to your question...we keep our rates more than competitive with similar dental offices throughout the city and surrounding 'burbs. We have a practice that focuses heavily on prevention, but when work does need to be done, we use the latest materials and techniques. We use a ton of technology that not only helps in the early diagnosis of dental problems, it creates a more comfortable and convenient patient experience for anyone who visits our office. We are in-network with several major insurance providers including Delta Dental, and we process insurance for all major providers. I have always found this question to be the sticking point for a lot of people. Its not a tough subject to talk about.

How much for a routine cleaning with no insurance?

I wish medical places just advertised their prices like most businesses do. I went to an eye doctor a few month ago only because he posted an ad in the Dispatch with the price listed.

Cyclist II, your question was open ended, so it was very difficult to answer succinctly. I apologize if I seemed evasive. There are thousands of dental codes for the different procedures we offer. I find it a little over the top to list every fee we have. I will always let patients know how much something will cost in my office before any treatment is began.

For a new patient exam, cleaning, and full series of x-rays in our office without dental insurance is $256. This is a complete record taking appointment that will establish a patient in our office.

After that, a normal six month exam and cleaning is $125 without insurance. If you have a history of cavities, or a lot of work that has been done, we recommend bite wing x-rays at least every 6-12 months to monitor the health of your teeth and supporting bone and gum tissue. If you don't have a history of previous work, or a history of decay, we recommend bite wing x-rays every 12-18 months. So if you need bite wings at your routine cleaning the total cost is $179 without insurance.

Money absolutely is a tough subject for some people. And I wish it was very cut and dry, but that just isn't the case. My staff and I deal with money/insurance questions frequently and other than the common dental phobia, money is the biggest deterrent from people getting the most ideal treatment. That is why we spend so much time at Capstone educating patients about their own unique oral condition. We give pros and cons of each treatment an let the patient make the final decision on how they will proceed with treatment.

Of course, there are dental offices out there with lower fees. I don't claim to be cheap. I don't want to do cheap dentistry. I want to offer my patients the best and latest in my office and that is not associated with cheap. Again, my fees are competitive with similar offices in Columbus. We offer state of the art dentistry and patient comfort and convenience. We are not a clinic that has lower fees and runs people through like an assembly line. I hope you have a great dentist and are happy there. If not, check us out. It is very difficult to form a trusting relationship especially when money is involved :)

I've found that using something like the Aetna Vital Savings card pays for itself almost immediately. Dental insurance seems to be waste of money.

It's been a while, but I would like to extend another free check-up promotion from Capstone. The fine print is the same. We would like to offer a free cleaning, exam, and digital x-ray package to two CUers. All we ask for is an honest review on Columbus Underground and Google/Yelp.
