Yay - love it!! Hope they come back tomorrow.

I think it was just a one-time thing because they're promoting Roll Up the Rim.
BTW did anybody go and get a winning cup?!

They should just open a downtown location, right?

They just opened a location on campus so maybe they will work their way downtown someday. I don't work downtown but my husband does, I think he would like it if they had one there. He is a big fan of their coffee.

I'd love it if they'd open up one downtown.
Perhaps they could make it a combo Wendys/Tim Hortons...

I... uh...
I was kind of joking, and I wasn't sure if locura & rnr outlaws are playing along and being sarcastic with me. ;)
Tim Horton's used to have a location in the FifthThird building at the corner of State & High. It only closed a few years ago. And it was right next door to a Wendy's that also closed a few years ago.
Granted, I believe this was for Tim Horton's was completely spun/sold off so perhaps their new parent company would consider a return to downtown?

I saw this post and just talked to a friend of mine who actually works for Hortons.
She said they will be distributing free coffee around downtown with the Roll Up the Rim cups over the next couple of days. If I can get locations, I will post.
She also has heard that corporate is again looking at downtown Columbus locations. Walker, you are right in noting that the old location closed when they were owned by Wendy's. If they teamed with anyone, it would be with Coldstone (like the campus location).
I started visiting Tim Hortons when my friend started working there and now am a big fan. GREAT oatmeal in the morning (kicks Starbucks' butt - cheaper too!).

Heh, @Walker I was being sarcastic along with you. I thought about suggesting the Fifth Third building as a possible location, but decided to leave my post a bit ambiguous...

Haha! Well it was just enough to throw me off. ;)
Cbuzzz, that's great news to hear they are checking out downtown again. Lots of competition though. Coffee shops on every corner! Sounds like Tim Horton's has got a bit of a built in fan base though.

i'm a Tim Horton's fan too! I didn't get the joke either. guess i need some coffee

Ha, I guess when you make a bad joke, that's what you deserve. I was pretty disappointed when Wendy's pulled out of downtown.

Yeah, I guess I missed the sarcasm too. I knew they used to have a downtown location but that was before this whole revitalization thing developed. Maybe once they see how things go with the campus location they will open one downtown too.
BTW--I heard they will be downtown again tomorrow so everybody can enjoy free java two days in a row!
I am a big fan of their oatmeal too, Cbuzzz. I got it at Starbucks once and they opened a packet of Quaker Instant Oats in front of me, filled it up with water and said, "Don't eat this for four minutes" for the price they charged, I could have bought an entire BOX of instant oats and made it myself. I think the TH version is much better, you can tell it is real cooked oatmeal.

This one of the reasons I miss working downtown. Lunch at el Arapazeo and coffee at Brioso after reminded me of another. On the flip side, if I was still downtown I would be working for the state. Which really isn't a good place to be at the moment.
More coffee/quick serve is always good downtown. Great for the 9-5 folks, residents and vistor's.

Talked to my Hortons contact - they will distribute free coffee near the Statehouse again tomorrow morning, as well as in the galleria of the old Lazarus building. Not sure about the rest of the week.
I guess the people working today got pretty cold after an hour in the wind!
lifeontwowheels - thanks for the reminder about El Arapezo (sp?). Think I might have to head there tomorrow for lunch. So good!

I agree 3 stores gone just like that. I would have tried some Tim Hortons coffee today but we have all the coffee we can swallow at work and it was so darn cold.

I was thinking earlier today about the idea of Tim Horton's coming back downtown. I mentioned to Anne the idea of them coming back to their old spot in the 5/3rd building, and Anne said she doubted that since it was a Wendy/TH combo and would probably be too large of a space for a Coldstone/TH combo.
With all of the competition around the Broad & High cluster and the blocks just north and east of there, I thought perhaps a spot in the newly revamped Lazarus building might suit them well. The High Street facing retail spots are already under construction and scheduled to open in the Spring. Would give them less competition with foot traffic and still give them access to all of the employees in several buildings right around there, as well as access to the new residents that will soon be moving into the LC development.
Makes sense to me. ;)

I think Tim Horton's empty niche has been filled by Dunkin' Donuts. I don't see them coming back to downtown in any of the high traffic areas around the Statehouse. But even then, I'm not sure there's enough foot traffic elsewhere downtown to warrant a new shop, either. Unless a swarm of Canadians decides to build a hive downtown.

There is always room for some coffee/food options on the east end. Especially around CCAD/CSCC. I usually end up at the hot dog stand for a quick lunch. The cafeteria at CSCC is OK and there is a little cafe in the book store that isn't bad.
Warehouse is an option if I have time and I need to check out the options in KLD.
