Okay Internet, I reeeally need you to do your thing here. I found this ferret that is clearly someone's pet. He's cute. But I DO NOT want him. Please help me find the owner. spread the word, if you would please. I would like the owner to tell me generally where it was lost and what it looks like, just so I don't get some creep that wants to save a few bucks from Petco.

Never thought I'd say this on this board but a/s/l?
It might help in locating the owner if we know what part of town and a description of said ferret.

I have to admit that saving a few dollars for a new pet ferret from Petco was not my first thought. If you find three more ferrets PM me.
4 skinned ferrets
Flour
Salt
Pepper
Butter
1 cup Sherry
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 jar sliced mushroomsCover whole ferrets with flour, salt and pepper. Brown in melted butter in heavy skillet over medium-high heat until nicely browned on all sides. Remove pieces from skillet and arrange in oven casserole with cover. When ferrets are browned, add 1 cup white wine or sherry to skillet. Then mix in 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1 can cream of celery soup, and 1 jar sliced mushrooms. Mix well and bring to boil, then pour over ferrets. Cover and bake in 325-degree oven for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until done and tender. Remove ferrets to serving platter and pour some of the sauce over, and serve the rest alongside. Serves 4.

I'm being ambiguous about the animal details because i want to give it to the real owner, not someone who wants a free pet. Also, per the advice of petFBI.com and Petfinder, this type of ID protocol is for preventing people (called "bunchers" i just learned) who collect lost pets and then sell them to labs. Nice, right?

Well, I suppose a period of personal introspection is in order. I'm somewhat mortified that the recipe has canned mushroom soup but I couldn't find any ferret charcuterie options. That seems to be a wide open culinary field with many exciting possibilities.
I do hope whoever lost their pet gets it back.

Sorry it seems counter intuitive to ask the Internet for help in locating the ferret owner without providing some kind of age/sex/or location details.
Example, I have a friend in Harrison West that has a few ferret, but if this ferret was found in Westerville its probably not worth asking if its his.
I think its commendable your trying to weed out the creeps, but I'd also think any pet owner worth their salt has at least a picture or fifty of their pet for verification.
Good luck.Posted 1 year ago # -
Kudos to you. If I ever walked out my door and find a ferret, I doubt my reaction would be to pick it up and take it inside.

Good luck. How many people in town are looking for lost ferrets? Like maybe one or two? They are welcome to call me, and I'll happily weed out the calls from westerville.
But, it's all academic now. I found his owner through Heart of Ohio Ferret Association. I know, right? Anyway, a happy reunion was had by all this morning.

Contact local vets, they might know. I know Dr. Beer at Care Pet Clinic handles ferrets. You might check with them, they might know the best solution. It might be microchipped, you'd have to visit a vet to have the chip scanned.
nvrmd, I just finished reading the thread. Good to hear!
