I have to admit it - the 3C-D train plans don't really excite me very much. I feel like it is 20+ yrs too late. Had the Celeste administration had a pair, they would have done it and we would have seen large-scale benefits. I realize that the Fed-teat needed to be suckled and that was a major driving force but I can't help but think that a major opportunity is being lost. In line with Celeste's SOS address which made puffery about technologies and innovation in Ohio, what could we be doing?
I submit that the 3C corridor would be an ideal testing case for all sorts of transportation innovations. For example, build a special lane for a semi-autonomous cars where the driver slots in and gives over control to the system for the duration of the drive to their exit. Or maintain a small fleet of self-driving cars distributed by modeling the transit needs. The transportation future - especially if we consider non-fossil fuels - is not all mass transit. It would be nice to see Ohio ahead of a curve instead of our usual 20yrs behind.
