I have a problem with this too. I make my own donations and therefore I don't want to participate at work therefore I am, or at least look like, the bad guy. I generally give a few bucks just to get everyone/someone off my back.

Let's pack our bags we are going on a guilt trip....I so prefer to give directly to the people, places, things...I had to do stuff for this at work and when I saw how much money was spent on the crip crap, paper junk handouts, marketing stuff, salaries, etc. I was really turned off more than I was prior! It is like the indulgences of the churches long ago...

It's pledge-card time, and success for the United Way of Central Ohio depends not just on whether you fill it out, but how.
Donors still can request a list of eligible human-services agencies from their employer or the United Way -- the list was on the form through 2007 -- and designate one of them as the sole recipient.
