I ran across a site that illustrates life in German Village long ago - many pictures I've never seen, along with some that are pretty common. The author (Tim Cook) is a guy who grew up in German Village back in the day when ice, milk, and coal was delivered to your door - pretty amazing walk through history. There are even some pics of the old northern section of German Village where the interstate is located now.
Tim Cook's walk through history
If you hunt around the site at one point he asks to send him an email if you'd like to comment, feel free to do so... I did and he sent a very nice response - cookt@ohio.edu is his address.
Later - enjoy the fascinating trip down memory lane!

P.S. One of the links on this site points to a great resource for streetcars in columbus way back when - http://www.columbusrailroads.com/streetcars.htm
