I don't know though, while it was a great defensive game again...and surprising a great game for the o-line and the running game, and even showcased Pryor's athleticism...his passing accuracy is still a trainwreck. Forget the overthrown bomb, that's a hard pass, but the next play was a toss (with time) to a guy in the flat that was wideopen and over his head by 10 feet. Still under 50% completion, but at least no glaring mistakes, so that was a huge improvement.

Still under 50% completion, but at least no glaring mistakes, so that was a huge improvement. That's basically how I explained it last night... Pryor made some similar mistakes but not in such a way that it cost us touchdowns, so even though he still has a ways to go to be a great passer- he wasn't spending part of the game playing for the other team this week and focused on leading the Bucks. I just wish Sansenbacher wasn't so underutilized as Pryor is still leaning on the often dropsy Posey like a crutch. Sansenbacher's got some hands and he's not afraid to tun over the middle, although Pryor is afraid (or discouraged by coaching) to pass over the middle. All in all, best OSU performance against Penn State I can recall in a while... our defense is pure gold, I lost count of the three-and-outs last night!

Funny how few posts there are this week. Wonder why that is?

I kind of don't want to jinx them or anything, but the Buckeyes have a really good shot at running the table and winning the Big Ten. A far cry from what the expectations were a couple weeks ago. It's nice being in the underdog position every once in awhile, and I think the team is playing with a chip on its shoulder.
I think Pryor is developing slowly. There were more drops yesterday than errant throws, and he seemed more apt to run rather than keep a play going unnecessarily.
Yesterday was the epitome of Tressel Ball. Smothering defense, field position, and whoever makes the least mistakes wins. I was scared when they punted from the PSU 31-yard line, but with the defense playing that well it didn't matter. One really close play from another shut out.
Gonna be interesting to see how many people jump back on the bandwagon in the coming weeks.

And yeah, there were some frustrating moments. Run almost the same play and it works the first few times and then the defense gets wise. So OSU lines up for the same thing and gets smothered. Hopefully they can figure out how to mix up the run side of things.

I felt the offensive play calling was much less frustrating this week (with a few exceptions). Pryor over threw a bunch of people, but had 0 turn overs. Couple that with great defense and you have yourself a winning formula. Looking good for the next 2 games, with Stanzi out and Michigan seemingly imploding.

His body language and eyes suggested to me that he didn't panic as he has seemingly done in previous games.
Assuming he can continue to do that, his passing now has a real chance to improve. Maybe he'll never be a Sam Bradford, but I have to think hes got potential to complete at least 55-60% of his passes on a more regular basis. Plus when a QB is emotionally in control the whole Offensive unit tends to play better.
The whole game was very gratifying, it was the first time all season I felt the team was playing closer to where they could.
I really hope the Bucks do well enough in the next two weeks that they get a good bowl and get a chance to beat a reputable SEC team. I don't think the Bucks will get national respect back until they get some bowl wins against ESPN's favorite conference.

I think a solid win in the Rose Bowl would be enough to start earning that back.

But I don't think the PAC-10 overall has much respect this year either.Beggars can't be choosers though when it comes to opponents. I'd just like a win . :)

I think right now the bigger stigma is lack of production in marquee games. A quality win in a good BCS bowl should help that. SEC is the monkey on the back. I just have a feeling we would implode in an SEC matchup at this point. Let the young guys on the team play the PAC 10, build some confidence and hopefully have a GREAT season next year.

Stupid Oregon losing to Stanford. Now are chances of having to face USC at home are pretty much written in stone unless the Trojans manage to lose in the next few weeks. Ugh, we will never win a bowl game.

You forget the BCS rule. The BCS will only put a PAC-10 or Big Ten team in the Rose Bowl if they are BCS eligible. You could win the conference and not get invited to the Rose Bowl. If 2 teams from a conference are both eligible its up to the bowl committee to decide who gets to go. If USC has more BCS points and is a bigger $ draw, they can technically go over Oregon. This is such a stupid system.
We may have lost by one touchdown to USC this year but the big difference is home court advantage. The OSU crowd visibly scared their QB and it made an impact. All of USC's losses have been on the road. A Rose Bowl would be minutes from campus, talk about home field advantage.

It isn't always the case but it is something I hear a number of the sportscasters comment on.

Thats true now that you mention it. LOL, maybe our fans are the bad mojo.
Btw, if you haven't seen this watch the first video. Its of Tressel and the team immediately following the Penn State win. http://www.cleveland.com/buckeyeblog/index.ssf/2009/11/video_of_jim_tressel_jumping_t.html

Do you mean the Rose Bowl Committee? I thought the Rose Bowl still had the perogative to take the Pac 10 and Big 10 champions unless one or both of them was in the title game. They seem to tweak the rules every year, so I may be mistaken.

BCS Committee decides all BCS bowls and who goes to them. When they decided that they put the caveat in that if there were BCS eligible teams NOT going to the national championship those teams would get first priority. The preference would then be for those chosen teams to be the conference winners. If you win the conference but are not deemed BCS eligible (top 12 BCS) they do not have to let you go.
So basically, if USC is top 12 BCS and Oregon isnt USC gets to go. If both are eligible and one wins the conference that team SHOULD go but its technically to the BCS committee to decide. With as screwed up as the BCS is this year who knows what will happen.
